Mayu Shinjo, mangaka of Sensual Phrase, wrote a great blog, summerized by anime news network on the subject last year, as she was leaving Shogakukan's Shojo Comic in favor of Shueisha's Margaret. It's worth noting that Takehiko Inoue, the most prominent mangaka to leave Shueisha for Kodansha that I can think of, returned to Shueisha a few years later. He now serializes a series for both publishers.

Give Kodansha a chance Bomber! They're definitely my favorite publisher. My only problem with Magazine is how sports heavy it is. While I like that genre I don't love it. Still, Magazine's sports series are worlds better then anything in Jump. Zetsubou, Megane, and Bloody Monday are great non - sports series to start with, though none of them have been fully translated. That's the story of Magazine though. More series are translated then Sunday, but only so many are caught up. Kodansha's line of seinen is just amazing. I'm an unrepentant 1st Day fanboy
You make a compelling argument. Although I'm not a sports fan in the least (Perhaps that's why unconsciously I avoided Magazine? Hmmmm...) I do like Zetsubou, and I was a big Rave fan. So those are aces in the hole. I really really don't have time to pick up any (more) series (Mainly because Gintama translating is a career not a hobby) But at least I want to see what the Buzz is all about.

Lol. At least the last couple of Gin chapters have been dialog light, at least by Sorachi standards.

If you liked Rave, Fairy Tail is a must. At least when and if you have the time. While it may be as stereotypical shonen as you can find, it's more fun and entertaining then any number of "better" action series, especially after chapter 45. Honestly, I enjoy Fairy Tail more then the supposedly better Hunter x Hunter.

Uh oh, could Bloody Monday be ending? The optimist in me is hoping they just announce a second season of the drama.

Re: Weekly Shounen Magazine (Shounen Mag by Kodansha)

I sort of thought Bloody Monday was going to end, but another season? Guess there was more story. Also interesting that another season of Kindachi is starting, but that can probably just do a case a year and still be in the magazine...akin to HxH.

It was a very good prediction, mystery series tend to run out of plot between 10 and 15 volumes (Conan excepted), but you failed to take one thing into account. The drama last fall was massive. Bloody Monday was a major hit, such a big hit it gave a significant pushed to the manga's sales. Since the drama has aired Monday has been about as popular as series like Daiya and Air Gear.

The new series by Fujisaki. I'd been wondering when he'd show up again, just didn't expect it in Magazine. Hopefully raws show up and it doesn't disappear like every other new Magazine title.

Can anyone summarize the plot for this new series?

I second to that. Well there's a slight chance it could be scanned by people who scan some shounen magazine raws which are to be found on those programs (what were those again?)

Hmmm summarising the plot is kinda difficult if the raw itself isn't to be found or available ^^

Yeah, that's definitely what's up. If the Magazine raw providers can get a hold of it I'm sure they'll post it. If there not on share or perfect dark everyone's out of luck. Hopefully if it does show up someone will translate. Thank god for Red Hawk scanlations; Cage of Eden and Kimi no Iru Machi wouldn't be in English without them.

Re: Weekly Shounen Magazine (Shounen Mag by Kodansha)

Hmm...has Toei animated anything post-where the anime ended? I know they did the anime for Kindachi but I really don't know too much about what it did...or read any of it anyway.

    TOC:
    -Kindachi (cp)
    -Heishidan (47p)
    -Daiya
    -Shibatora
    -Air Gear
    -Fairy
    -Smash
    -Hanagata
    -Area
    -Baby
    -Zetsubou (3rd season announcement)
    -Ippo
    -Negima
    -Eden
    -Ahiru
    -Megane
    -Shimasen
    -Teru
    -Code
    -Seito
    -KimiMachi
    -Masshu
    -Fausts
    -Brabo
    -Absent: Tsubasa, Zerosen

A bit confused: I thought Shimasen was usually the bottom placer...then again, Brabo probably bombed.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Code: Breaker doesn't rank higher...
