It just makes the whole series predictable though. Naruto was the only Shonen series where main characters were allowed to die and not have the annoying veil of invincibility (One Piece, Bleach). But no, this just shows that now no matter what no main characters are in danger. He will always find a way to bring them back.

Unless Jiraiya, Sarutobi, Asuma, Haku, Zabuza, Hayate, Utachi etc. all came back to life this statement is false.

I REALLY miss the days of zabuzza and pre time skip Orochimaru, when the manga didn't feel so exaggerated....

You mean back before the timeskip when Orochimaru took a gigantic fire jutsu full blast and only got a bit burned, when a wind summon weasel plowed down half a forest, what a water jutsu flooded half a forest, when ice mirrors allowed a human to travel faster than the eye can see and enter into another dimension within the mirror, when a jutsu brought nack to life two hokages whose bodies did not even exist?

Or heck, it was part 1 that gave us a jutsu that allowed a human to summon the god of DEATH!

Part 2 has raised the stakes, but don't tell me that there were no exaggerated powers in part 1.

it's just very bad storytelling to put a part in a story and have it go on so long to just undo it

It makes me feel like the manga is being milked for money. Will soend half a year on an arc just to make it have 0 impact on the story as a hole. NOW i get why kishi allowed the anime fillers. He cares way more about money then his story.

3. Konoha has been levelled.

How the heck has any of this been UNDONE?! I really don't get it. How can anyone say there has been ZERO impact on the story?

I mean Nagato has basically had more impact on the story than just about any other character.

naaaa...it's Madara alright, the final benchmark or whatever fluffy thing we fans might call it.

though after some thought this chapter rox, it finished everything all at once. It even brought closure to Yahiko's death and made Kakashi jump.

No ones saying that Nagato reviving everyone wasn't ridiculous... we're just saying that in the confines of this particular story - its plausible.

Look, Oro was able to bring back two Hokages and Chiyo brought back Gaara... the precedent for reviving dead people was set along time ago... Given who Nagato was; what he was capable of - its perfectly reasonable in a ridiculous way, but still reasonable for him to do what he did.

I don't really care about what the detractors are trying to say. This is great.

We've known from the get go that this guy had the ability to virtually bring the dead back to life. We've known he could perform ANY jutsu he has desired since the age of 10. Kishi's core principle that there is consequences for any amazing, overthetop jutsu and we see what Nagato had to endure just to make Pain possible and we see what he had to give up to perform a reincarnation jutsu on this level, it costed him his life which was already shortened from the massive shinra tensei.

I said this a long time ago. Basically, the next villain has to be as over the top as Nagato which was the whole problem with Dragon Ball Z. They could never go back to the way it was or villains would be weaker. I'm not looking forward to the fight with Madara because you can bet it's gonna be a huge pile of "WTH?". Keeping things grounded and overall power levels realistic is what keeps everything in order, when you cross that line, it gets harder and harder to suspend belief.

Not really. The thing with Naruto is that there are many varieties of skills that no one person can counter completely.

Ergo the next villain doesn't have to be more powerful to be a threat, he just has to fight differently.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't be able to do it given his powers, i'm just saying that Nagato, in and of himself, is just a huge mess.

A character like him only ruins a manga (unless he is the last boss). Now what is going to happen in the future???

Shounens badguys are always stronger than previous badguys, so the precedent he has set is BEYOND RIDICULOUS!

So what now? is Madara going to have to ability to suck people's souls out with is eyes??

So I guess the likes of Hidan, Kakuzu and Deidara were all more powerful than Orochimaru?

The next villains don't always have to be stronger, they can be just as strong but skilled in other areas or fight in different ways.

Seriously, you guys are missing the main point, just reread the fight with zabuzza and the chunin exam and then read this chapter.

I know I may get flamed for this but bare with because I base everything on evangelion as it is the holy grale of the visual (and written) media.

Each angel had unique non over the top abailities. It just felt so belivable, because the show wasnt constantly trying to out do it self. This manga has become a one trick poney just like DBZ all we have to look forward too is yet another rediculus villian, who makes nagato look like a child. When does it end :'(

See the above. Naruto isn't going to have a villain need to be a 100 times stronger than the previous one to be a credible threat.

The fact of the matter is that early villains like Orochimaru would still be decent opponents for later characters. People mock Orochimaru for being defeated so quickly by Itachi but they forgewt that Itachi was using his most powerful technique. Even then he couldn't kill Orochimaru but sealed him. I wouldn't call that beating Orochimaru like he was nothing.
