I see your point to a degree but woman really can do anything a man can do. I'm not saying that it's going to become the norm or anything like that but it's pretty obvious that woman are getting more athletic at younger ages just like men are. Your opinion could be seen as sexist infact but that's my G/Fs opinion not mine. Physical freak doesn't mean just tall or big those "smaller" players have good quickness, footspeed, balance, and (Diana more than Sue) strength that isn't average.
If you want to look at it as sexist, then I don't know what to tell you. But the evidence is there. Women aren't as fast or strong as men. And you know what? That's fine! They don't play against men! This is like the Connecticut win streak all over again when they said they "broke" the record set by a men's team. They're different sports. What is wrong with them being viewed differently?

This all started with me saying I like Delle Donne's game more because it's more representative of the women's game. I like the underdog story as well. That doesn't mean I think she's better than Griner. I don't know how what I said was incorrect. EDD isn't less representative just because a handful of women can dunk in a game. The fact that it's noteworthy that a girl can dunk at all tells you enough about the women's game.

Like I said it really wasn't me but I can see how your comment could be seen that way. It's like saying white guys can't jump or black guys are fast. Your comment on EDD was like sterotyping that girls are only going to be this much but it's all moot the girls game is evolving very quickly and like i said previously their athleticism will catch up in due time. Anyways anyone see Kevin Ware from Louisville break his leg? OUCH

Are you a geneticist? I mean, a 100k years in the future that might be true, that's sort of a topic for another thread I guess. But I just think there's too much political correctness going on with that type of reaction. It doesn't mean it has to make the women's game any less entertaining to fans, and it doesn't make it any less competitive. But facts are facts Griner is an exception to the norm there. If women were closer to the level of men, they'd play in the same league. And don't get me wrong, there's plenty of female players that could absolutely school a guy in hoops. I've lost games of HORSE to plenty of girls

Yeah, that was horrendous. Glad they still beat Duke

Shaq will have his 34 retired at the staples today...
The Lakers will need to really step up on this last 8 games, up to the wizards game they were looking like a lock at the playoffs... but with a couple of bad losses and the jazz recovering nicely.. they're with the back at the wall

To be expected of Maryland these days. They already lost Dwayne Morgan, the best HS basketball player in the state, to UNLV. We can't protect our borders, it's been years since we could. Until they can keep talent in state, these are the results to expect.

Well, I think they're in better shape now than what they were with Gary as far as recruiting goes. Even if Alex Len enters the draft, I still think the future is bright for them. They still have a bunch of talent.

    Re: The Basketball Thread

Wow Maryland fans? I hear that the problem is the coach refuses to work with the AAU coaches for the better HS players in the nation. It used to be the HS coaches who had influence but now if you don't speak with AAU coaches and hook them up (Sponsors/Job offers/Pick up the lesser players for the better ones) it's really hard. At that point your trying to find diamond in the rough guys but they need two to three years still to be decent players.

    Re: The Basketball Thread

No, you're talking about Gary Williams. Mark Turgeon replaced him two seasons ago after he retired. I didn't have an issue with Gary not playing the "game" with the whole AAU mess. Everyone knows it's crooked. We were still competitive year in and year out, so I didn't hold it against him for not fighting with people like Calhoun, etc. I don't really know where Turgeon stands on it, but he's had two really nice recruiting classes. Though there's some question about his playcalling, something that Gary Williams could go toe to toe with anyone on.

wow... Lousiville game was closer than I was expecting
I always cheer for the underdogs on the title game... so I'll be cheering for Michigan in the title game(I don't think that Syracuse can beat them tonight)

this laker team is getting on my nerves

    ---------- Post added April 12, 2013 at 02:36 PM ---------- Previous post was April 11, 2013 at 07:44 PM ----------

So... who do you guys think will take the 8th spot on the west?

    Lakers last 3
    Warriors - home
    Spurs - home
    Rockets - home

    Jazz last 3
    Minessota - home
    Minessota - away
    Memphis - away

The Lakers are a full game ahead of the jazz, but the jazz has the tiebreaker, meaning that if the Lakers lose one more game than the Jazz... they're out
about their last opponents.. Houston and Warriors are battling for the 7th sport, so i'ts probable that they'll bring full force to avoid the thunder/spurs. The spurs is fighting for the 1st seed, but Pop likes to rest guys so we'll only know at the time of the game.

Minessota have nothing to fight for, Adelman said that he would like to see the team with full force before the end of the season, but Love is out with a knee surgery. On the other side... it's probably his last season before retiring, so he probably want to go ou with a winning streak instead of a losing one. Memphis is fighting for homecourt advantage against the Clippers or a 3rd seed in Denver's place.

So apparently Kobe tore his achilles? That's what they just said on Sportscenter at least.
