I hate the limited choices we have, but I like a lot of characters.

So I voted for them all using other IP addresses, haha.
Although I didn't vote for any aliens (including the Host one), Inaba or Sakata.

I can't understand that the Host Alien is on number 1. He is one of the lamest and most cliché characters in the whole manga.

I don't get it why Nishi is so popular amongst Gantz fans.
Maybe it's a violent-manga-enthusiast thing to like such a cowardly, nerve gratingly annoying psychopath.

Katou should remain dead. I wouldn't mind if he'll die with Ayumu during Katastrophe.

Nishi's not cowardly... he just doesn't give a fuck about anyone else. A coward does not await probable destruction with glee. It's probably going to be difficult to explain why I like him when you describe him as "nerve gratingly annoying" though. One of the reasons I like him is because he's a psychopath - you never know when he's going to snap and kill someone. He's unpredictable and often dangerous - because of this, his character demands your attention and easily evokes suspense whenever he shows up.

It's true we haven't really seen Nishi fight too effectively against the aliens yet. We know he's a survivor because he's made it through many hunts. He's died once and been critically injured once. The first time he died, he had an injured suit and was taken by surprise by a Tanaka alien that was moving at rapid speed underwater in the middle of the night. He seemed to have a streak of bad luck that night, and it could be argued that he was a victim of circumstance. During the Nuri mission, he was able to earn 70 points and would have defeated an ordinary boss with ease. Unfortunately he was up against the Nurarihyon, which even Oka couldn't handle on his own. Finally, during the Italy mission, he survived unharmed and made it to 100 points.

Nishi's face humans before. He's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve and can probably handle most of the Tokyo team. He took a SWAT(?) team and managed to kill or injure most of them before being shot down. That's with the full force of the bullets battering against his body. Kei was knocked to the ground by a single shot from Izumi's gun. It would be a mistake to say that Nishi is an ineffective fighter. Besides, Oku made a point of giving Nishi another experience with invisibility-immune aliens during the Osaka arc. It's never been entirely clear what memories characters retain when they take damage during missions. Its possible that in Oku's mind Nishi couldn't remember anything about the Tanaka, and this was his way of stomping out Nishi's most vulnerable weakness.

I rather not speculate what's on Oku's mind but for the heck of it, it'll be really delightful for Nishi to remember his embarrassing death and how much fail he was during that mission. To be quite frank, it doesn't really matter what memory Nishi retains. It still won't change the fact that he sucks at fighting, aliens or humans. That SWAT scene was just him being suicidal. He should have far more advantage against hundreds of militants with GANTZ technology. The cockroach was only lucky to be alive because Gantz beemed him up in time.

I don't think Oku trying to make Nishi into a charming character, but possibly fans of this kind of genre tend to like sick characters like him. The fans just have a twisted perception, probably. (This reminds me so much of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter. LOL)

Nishi's not suicidal. He's really looking forward to Katastrophe. If you think he'd sacrifice his life meaninglessly like that... you're wrong. He must have known somehow that the transfer was underway. Nishi's always known more about whats going on than any other character.

I voted for Izumi, he is cold blooded in a way kei will never be. If he survived until catastrophie he would be owning aliens left and right. I wanted to vote for Oka but he wasn't on the list! I don't understand why everyones so down on nishi hear trying to survive in his own way like everyone else. How tae is #2 I can't figure out I think it's because she puts out.

I'm more convinced that the fans preference for characters with the worst values is the norm amongst fans of this seinin genre. As I'm not a conventional manga fan nor I am originally a fan of violent artworks, my opinion goes against the popularity. I dislike Nishi the cockroach like fire of a thousand sun.

i agree kei2 has surpassed the origional I'm terms of coolness (I call them kei 1 and 2 but in reality they are 3 & 4) kei 2 lost more of his humanity because hese an extra, but this makes him a more hardcore fighter. Plus he is with reika who I wanted him to be with all along, he started dating tae through some stupid game and somehow stayed with her after he lost his memories, she isn't even a gantzer how can she understand him like reika can? Tae is only going to slow kei down.

I agree. I don't hate Tae or like her either. She's useful to keep the plot moving but I have no emotional attachment to her as Kei does. Not that I don't dig the whole "plain girl can has the hot hero" scenario (because looks is overrated) but her character is equally blank. She is like a baby and even drawn like one. Her eyes are the exact shape as Takeshi for goodness sake! It makes Kei like a pedo. Creeper..
Honestly I don't like Reika visually but she sure got great fighting skillz. I prefer someone like Cherry's girl (Tonkatsu? what's her name?) Too bad she's not a Gantz fighter. I wonder how she looks like in the suit.

Lol, I can understand why a character like Nishi would be number one. He's not constantly shoved into the reader's face (cough Kurono), and he's not some obscure stereotypical bore like most of the other characters. He's around just enough to be either strongly hated, or loved. Either way, he's an interesting character to boot. I've never been the type to like the main character of any story, that includes manga, anime, and just fictional novels in general. Usually the main character is just the story writer's bitch that is manipulated so much (s)he becomes dull and overused within the first few chapters/episodes. In this case, Kurono is no different. Besides, he's severely pussy whipped, and that annoys the living shit outta me. Host Samurai... what the hell?! That's all I gotta say about him.

It turns out you can vote an infinite amount of times using internet explorer and inprivate browsing, well it works for me anyway

Turns out you can but the vote won't work...why because i did it 3 times and tried to see if the numbers on kurono went up...but they didn't

Back at the time i voted for Hikiwa, but he is rarely in gantz now lolz..
