Well, before the movie started, only one past volume did manage to be ranked in top 50 (just for one week). Except that, none of past volumes did manage to re-enter top 50 for one month after the anime started. So, it did have little bit of anime effect, but not as much as the past volumes re-enter the ranking.

Then suddenly, many past volumes began to get ranked after the movie started.

    Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Does that mean you expect sales to surge based on one or two episodes of an anime? Maybe it took viewers four or five episodes to form a strong enough opinion to actually want to buy the manga. Maybe stores took four or five weeks to assess demand and confirm that they could no longer keep enough copies of catalog volumes in stock. The sales boost for catalog volumes of Ao no Exorcist was not obvious for a few weeks after the anime began airing; volume 6 debuted in the top 30 a week before the anime, and fell out of the top 30 before episode 2 aired. It took a few weeks before old volumes began reappearing in the top 30. By your "logic" the anime had no effect on Ao no Exorcist either.

But no one uploaded top 50 data of Oricon when the anime of Ao no Exorcist started (only up to top 30 are available). My assumption is from other recent series, lik Inu Boku x SS re-enter on top 50 as soon as the anime started, and as so as Gin no Saji (write after it received the award) and Thermae Romae (right after the movie started). So, we need all of ranking to see whether AnE actually does re-enter top 50 to see whether AnE had anime effect right after anime started or one month later. So, if I'm wrong, then I'm very welcome to accept it; everyone doesn't know everything.

Uchuu Kyoudai is still doing amazingly well. And HXH is nearly at 1 million copies now.

Interesting how a yanki manga like Worst is still doing so well in this day and age.

Also, Otoyomegatari, that manga is really new and from a very obscure publisher and magazine. Does anyone know if it's done this well before?

Otoyomegatari is by the author of Emma; so, she already established her own fandom. That's why Otoyomegatari is doing good.

The Crows franchise seems to be an evergreen, they never seem to go out of style.

Otoyomegatari is about four years old now, with an international following. Fellows is a great magazine BTW, as is it's sister magazine, Comic Beam.

I think volume 3 left the top 30 with over 200,000 volumes sold. And if I am not mistaken, the 4th volume was released on the 14th of this month, so this latest ranking doesn't show it's full potential, seeing as it only covers from the 7th to the 13th(pre-release sales maybe?) Volume 3 debuted with 157,502 volumes sold.

Volume 3 also made the NYT Best Seller List and is Eisner Award nominated. It's a really good manga.

Volume 1 and 2 also debuted in the top ten, though volume 1 sold lower then is now the norm. It is really good, one of the series I most look forward to new chapters of.

Even with special edition sales he is correct, sales of Tegami Bachi have been declining for over a year now.

So far, volume 14 of Tegami Bachi (including special edition) sold about same as volume 13.

Noticed that too, wonder why sales are declining. Sadly scanlations have stopped for a while so I can't judge the current development but the last chapter I read was good.
