Bakuman Somehow I always thought Reborn sold better than Bakuman. Not that I'm complaining of course.

Yay for Mago, Toriko and Beelzebub! I wonder if Beelzebub's next volume or next-next volume will be able to git 100k within a week.

... And poor Psyren Not even 50k for the first week of its final volume...

I think Psyren didn't made 50k because the sales for Jump series are only based on three days.

    Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Yes, you're right I still call it a "week" even though it's just 3 days, since Oricon just counts it like that (and it's just easier for us to follow their way of counting). But even so, seeing all the other Jump series (particular "newer" ones) selling so much better... Is just sad for Psyren even though I know it never was that strong a seller.

Great job, Bakuman and Reborn! <3 I would have thought Toriko would have sold more. It's still unknown outside of WSJ I guess; perhaps that perception will change with the anime airing right now.

    Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Its a normal tankoubon edition of the Second Part of the series, hence the "Shin" (New) in the title, "Shin Tennis No Oujisama" or "New Prince of Tennis".
The Kanzenban edition Season 1 (As was named in the Kanzenban release) ended in volume 12, probably a Season 2 will follow, but we don´t know yet.

Hmmm. It looks like the earthquake didn't have impact on manga selling.

Earthquake was on the 11 March, so only the last three days of oricon week was under the impression of it.
i think next week will be more interesting how much the earthquake affect the sales.

    Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I think that sales have gone down this week probably because of damage caused by the tsunami because sales of bakuman and many other books have lowered

for example : Bakuman, in its first two weeks the last time, has sold over 400000 copies, and same for nura & toriko and many other manga

I hope that sales will resume usual their pace very quickly

I'm afraid sales will be low for quite some time. They're running out of necessities such as food so they probably won't be able to afford leisure goods.

Not only that, I can't imagine how many stores have their stock damaged either by the floodwaters or idk, getting squashed/crumpled in the earthquake.

Also, I think since the Oricon rankings work on a computer-based system to collect sales #s from the shops all over Japan, some of these numbers might be a bit off because of the power shortages and all that?

    Either way, hurrah for KimiTodo

That could be true. Oricon may have experienced a power shortage prior to the time they usually release the sale numbers: a total amount sold in one hour is different from the next.

It may take a while for things to stabilize considering sales since a portion of the buyers reside in the Touhoku region.

    Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Not to mention that Touhoku is huge and includes the capital Tokyo where presumably more people have the spending power to buy lots of manga, and otaku haven Akihabara...

Maybe the next One Piece volume will be unable to break its previous record as it has been doing with every new volume? It all depends on how long it takes for sales to stabilise again.
