Yeah Number Five is just nuts. I bought the iPad app, which is a complete English official version of it.

What I like about the mangaka is his really captivating art. It is really drawn thick and from the start you get a surreal situation and an amazing exposition to the characters. Symbolic references also build up the whole thing. Attention is something you really need when read this and his other manga. He has a strange way of adding detail.

It took me a few times, and a lot of patience when I finally decided to push through and keep reading. The opening volume to this one is so overwhelming it's crazy. But yeah if you know what Matsumoto's capable of, you know not to chicken out if things seem too dense.

Exactly the manga is dense, I was looking for the right word to describe it, gosh the art is just so dense and fits the flow of the story perfectly. I would say stick to the story for the interest of reading something alternative is the best advice I can give for reading this.
