3rd Berserk Film Slated for February 1

The third Berserk feature film, Berserk Golden Age Arc III: Descent (Berserk Ōgon Jidai-Hen III: Kōrin), will open in Japanese theaters on February 1, 2013. Tickets with bonus extras will go on sale on November 17. Character designer and chief animation director Naoyuki Onda drew illustrations of Guts, Griffith, Band of the Hawk, Casca, and Charlotte for four bonus A4-size clear file folders.

The trilogy's first film, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - The Egg of the King opened in Japan this past February and premiered in the U.S. at Comic Con in July. The second film, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II - The Doldrey War premiered in Japan in June. Viz Media holds the North American license for the film series and will the first film on DVD and Blu-ray on November 27.

Evangelion: 3.0 Film Ad Shows Previously Unseen Footage

The third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series will open this Saturday.

Is Evangelion really not worth watching without the subs? I sure hope to see some other project by Anno in the future though, but I understand how he is sticking with the magnificent concept that he has with NGE, but I do think he can create other good works as well. He is a very talented director to try out something new is worth it.

And indeed suddenly a very interesting end of 2012 beginning of 2013, all good series are starting to emerge or re-emerge, Berserk as well.

Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san manga creator Yasuhisa Kubo denied the reports of a second television anime season on Sunday. He specifically said there are no plans for a second season "as of now," although he added that this year's 23rd issue of Kodansha's Evening magazine will have an announcement on Tuesday.

Update 1: The Comic Natalie website confirmed on Tuesday that Evening magazine is announcing on Tuesday that production on a second season has been green-lit. The website earlbox also posted the announcement on Monday, but removed the photograph soon after.

3rd Berserk Film's Full Trailer, Poster Unveiled

The Yahoo! Movies Japan website began streaming the full 112-second trailer for Berserk Ōgon Jidai-Hen III: Kōrin (Berserk Golden Age Arc III: Descent), the third part in Studio 4°C's film adaptations of Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga, on Friday. A new poster for the film was also unveiled on Friday with the tagline, "All darkness … eclipses light."



The film is scheduled to run for about 107 minutes and carry an R18+ rating. The film will open in Japan on February 1.

2013 Detective Conan Movie Revealed

This year's 51st issue of Shogakugan's Shonen Sunday is revealing information about the 17th Detective Conan (Case Closed) movie, Meitantei Conan: Zekkai no Private Eye (Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea) on Wednesday. The movie is set on a state-of-the art Aegis vessel with the full cooperation of Japan's Ministry of Defense and Maritime Self-Defense Force. The heroine Ran is put in jeopardy, and Conan is forced to stand up against a dangerous criminal.

The new anime is the first one being presented in "2013 Sunday Anime Project," the eight-issue campaign that Shonen Sunday is hosting.

Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea will open on April 20 in TOHO theaters throughout Japan.

4,101 Watch Evangelion 3.0 at Tokyo's Wald 9 Early

4,101 people attended the overnight screenings of the Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q Quickening) movie at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater starting at midnight on Saturday. All nine of the theater's screens showed the film a total of 17 times overnight. The Shinjuku Wald 9 movie theater has a total of more than 1,800 seats in the facility. The tickets for the overnight showings had sold out within five minutes of going on sale.

The film opened in 223 theaters across Japan on Saturday. Starting on Saturday, Shinjuku Wald 9 is also screening, for the first time in a theater, Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone and Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (the latest versions of these two previous films) for a limited time.

Saint Young Men Anime Film Slated for May 10

Saint Young Men, the anime film adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura's comedy manga, is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on May 10, 2013. A special trailer for the film began running before Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo on Saturday.

The story imagines if Buddha (voiced by SAKEROCK band leader Mirai Moriyama) and Jesus (actor Gen Hoshino) shared a low-rent apartment in Tokyo. Noriko Takao (episode director on Clannad, K-ON!, Lucky Star) is directing at A-1 Pictures off a screenplay by Rika Nezu (live-action Kimi ni Todoke, live-action Absolute Boyfriend).

4th & Final Evangelion Anime Film Titled

The theatrical pamphlet for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q), the third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion series, revealed the title for the next film on Saturday. The fourth and final film is titled Shin Evangelion Gekijō-ban ������ (シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版������). The symbol at the end of the title is used in music to denote repetition after reaching the end of a measure.

The first three films' Japanese subtitles are the names for the three classical movements (Jo-Ha-Kyū or Introduction-Exposition-Climax) of traditional Japanese music such as gagaku and Noh.

The final film is slated to open in theaters next year. Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo opened in Japanese theaters on Saturday.

3rd Berserk Film Listed as R15+ Instead of R18+

The new movie poster and trailer for the third Berserk feature film, Berserk Golden Age Arc III: Descent (Berserk Ōgon Jidai-Hen III: Kōrin), lists a R15+ rating. Japan's Film Classification and Rating Committee (Eirin) had previously listed a rating of R18+ for "extremely provocative sexual content" on October 16. If the movie stays designated as R18+, theaters will be required to restrict the film to viewers 18 years old or older.

The Gigazine website reports there are now plans to resubmit the film to Eirin for the R15+ rating.

The last major anime film with an R18+ rating was 2011's complete edition of Mardock Scramble: The First Compression. The film had opened one year earlier without some scenes and with a PG12 rating.

One Piece Film Z's Full Trailer Streamed

The Yahoo! Movies Japan website began streaming the full 106-second trailer for the upcoming One Piece Film Z on Friday. The trailer features the songs "Bad Reputation" and "How You Remind Me" by Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. The trailer also introduces the new character Ein, who is voiced by singer and actress Ryoko Shinohara (Street Fighter II: The Movie, Kyōfu no Kyō-chan).



Attendees of the movie will receive a 84-page “Volume 1000” of One Piece, which will contain designs and an exclusive One Piece Treasure World card. The movie will open in Japanese theaters on Saturday, December 15.

Shueisha's Shonen Jump magazine announced Avril Lavigne's participation in the movie in October. The two theme songs for the movie are covers of Nickelback and Joan Jett songs.

TV Anime of Comedy Manga 'Ishida to Asakura' Announced

According to Young King magazine, Masao's comedy manga "Ishida to Asakura" was announced to get a TV anime adaptation. It will be aired from January 2013.

It's a nonsense comedy about two high school boys, Ishida and Asakura.

New Anime of Rozen Maiden Announced

According to Young Jump magazine, a new anime of manga "Rozen Maiden" was announced. Two seasons of the TV anime were aired between 2004 and 2006.

Not only that the animation put off a lot of viewers, they will also butcher the severety of the situation for the main character and the plot. doh, let's hope this will get a complete edition too. So the current version of "Second Combustion" is censored too?

Evangelion: 3.0 Earns Japan's Highest Weekend Box Office of 2012

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q) earned 1,131,004,600 yen (about US$13,913,200) this past weekend, and thus earned the highest weekend box office in Japan this year. It sold 771,764 tickets on 223 screens.

The third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series sold 443,408 tickets for 648,383,550 yen (US$7,976,200) on Saturday. It then sold 358,356 tickets for 482,621,050 yen (US$5,937,000) on Sunday.

Hikaru Utada's music video for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo's ending theme song "Sakura Nagashi" has received over 2 million views on YouTube as of Monday afternoon in Japan. The video was first streamed on Utada's official YouTube channel on Saturday, shortly after the film opened in Japanese theaters at midnight.

Utada has been on hiatus from music since the end of 2010. This is her first new song since November 2010, but her record company emphasizes that this does not represent her return to music — just a standalone release. Evangelion character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto drew the jacket cover for the song's DVD single, which will go on sale on December 26.

Final Evangelion Film No Longer Listed in 2013

The official website for the fourth film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion series has been updated with the title. However, the site no longer lists 2013 as the release date. The initially planned 2013 release date was first revealed on the site on New Year's Day this year.
