'They' is not a good word for Bereserk because 'they' sound like 'Shueisha' released Beserk complete edition. I think you should put it as 'Hakuensha.'

That's a bit nit-picky on your part, and unspecific on my part. Coincidentally though, Shueisha founded Hakusensha in the 70s and they're both part of the Hitotsubashi Group along with Shogakukan and Shodensha, among others. Separate entities, but they operate under the same corporate umbrella.

Euerka 7 getting sequel manga scan of announcment
    Spoiler show

    Quote Quote:
The February issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine is announcing on Monday that Eureka Seven Ao, a manga sequel to the Eureka Seven television anime series, will launch in the next issue on January 26. The "real mecha epic" will center around a boy named Ao who "set 'destiny' in motion again when he held the 'power.'" Artist Yūichi Katō is drawing the manga based on the original story by the anime studio BONES.
I've waited for a sequel for so long dissapointed not going to follow Euerka and Renton tho but im sure they'll be featured somewhat who know maybe new kid will be there son leading to that new evolution in which colorians would return.

The three-chapter manga will be based on Gosho Aoyama's original story and adapt the 1999 film of the same name. Aoyama's new Meitantei Conan: Sousa Ichi-ka Hen manga will also retell the story of Conan's first case.

Kōichirō Hoshino will illustrate the Aura ~Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai manga based on Romeo Tanaka's light novel series and mebae's character designs. Shogakukan stated on Wednesday that reports of an anime film adaptation of Tanaka's work were "partially in error."

Didn't Oku already mention once that he's going to finish it 2012 because he believes the world will end there?
Anyhow,I'm glad he's finally wrapping it up.

Kind of funny since he and Roland Emmerich interviewed each other around the time 2012 was being released in Japan.

Re: General Manga News and Announcements

ACBD association has released is annual report about comics in French spoken European countries (in the following, I will use French for French-speaking for simplification).
Here is a quick translation concerning the manga part, I thought it could be interesting to compare with Japanese figure
All credits are toward Gilles Ratier member of the association who write the report each year.

    Production
In 2011, 3620 new comics were published, among them 1632 French comics (BD), 303 american comics, 386 graphic novels and 1520 Manga and other asiatic comics. This is stable wrt last year figures.

Concerning manga, there are always only 10 series (published by 5 editors) which represents 50% of the global sells : Naruto is leading (with 250000 prints). In term of print figure, Naruto is followed by the usual stars of manga : One Piece, Fairy Tail, Black Butler, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bakuman, Pluto, Bleach, Gunm Last order and a new serie Judge. Let's not forget the Dragon Ball which continue to sell well and a French manga Dofus with 40000 print. Manga market seems to be mature and has difficulties to find new leaders since all big license are already available.

    Translation
In 2011, 2043 comics were translated. Among them 1493 from Asia (38.9%) (1387 manga, 85 manhwa, 15 manhua) and 364 from US.
Asiatic traduction represents 499 different series published by 35 different editors.

    Main manga print figure :

Hayate the Combat Butler Manga Is About 60% Done says creator

    Quote Quote:
Manga creator Kenjirou Hata reported on Tuesday that his Hayate the Combat Butler series might be about 60% complete. Hata was responding to a Twitter follower who asked about how far the manga is into its story.

He had reported last week that the manga would go on hiatus until this year's 13th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, which will ship on February 29, due to a "task" he has to do. He clarified on his Twitter account that the hiatus is not due to illness or exhaustion.

    Okama is coming back

Hopefully this one is translated, not enough of Cloth Road is in English to judge if he is a competent writer of mainstream manga. His doujin and color books are delightful, hilariously demented moe.

Woot Gessan. Although it's basically unknown It's nice to see an award winner come form it. I'm currently translating a series from Gessan and hopefully that'll get it some attention. I think another series got a drama from the mag? I don't remember the name though....either way it's nice to see the mag get some attention.

Re: General Manga News and Announcements

Very interesting to see a josei title win the general category, this may be the first time. Only the first chapter of Sakamichi no Apollon has been translated but it does seem very promising. The anime will be part of the Noitamina block in April, hopefully that will get the manga more attention. It worked for Chihayafuru and Kuragehime. Pin to Kona also looks very good but scanlations have stalled after one volume. If Nobunaga Konzert were ever translated I would give that a try as well. I'll ask c_k to put it in next weeks 'new manga shouts', I can't promise that will convince someone to translated but that will at least get it noticed.
