Ichiro Heian! by Jin Kobayashi, will end in Bessatsu Shônen Magazine #06 (09/05).

I'm surprised that Inchiro Heian! ended pretty quickly. I wonder it ended early because either it was planned to do short or it didn't get a good reception.

The special prize was not given to that issue of Weekly Jump, it was given to a specific copy of that issue:

"Immediately after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster last year, over 100 children took turns reading one sole copy of that year's 16th Weekly Shonen Jump issue at a bookstore in Sendai — the closest major city to the epicenter of the earthquake. Woah,that sounds terrible,but it would be a good explanation for Claymore's abrupt ending.Or rather a good explanation for Yagi's decision to continue a with a sequel and a brand new name.I wonder if the same thing will happen to other popular manga.

Quite a few popular manga (conspicuously from Kodansha) have ended in the past couple of months. After reading that article I don't think it's a coincidence.

Complete speculation. One would have to know Yagi's contract situation in the first place, for one. He might not even have an exclusive contract. Secondly, there aren't any examples of Shueisha being guilty of the same type of practice.

Different people have different opinions or contracts. I don't think the big mangaka will give away their rights, it's them that need to unite to stop that kind of bs.
