With new year there are two event that I look at in French comic news w.r.t manga:

Les bilans ACBD which resume the evolution of comic medium in France and Belgium.
Surprisingly, it managed to still grow up of 4.28% with 5565 new comic book in 2012 (compared to 5327 in 2011) representing 7.38% of the book production.
The new albums (figure of 2011 in parentheses):
4109 (3998) in total with 1731 (1632) French Comic , 1621 (1520) Asian comic among which 1465 mangas, 366 (303) American comics
The print figures of mangas can be found in appendix of the 2012 pdf. Most of them are decreasing. The most interesting point would be that Naruto decreases for the first time from 250 000 to 225 000 while One Piece is one of the rare increasing from 100 000 to 135 000 and even 165 000 for volume 61.


Second event is the Angoulême festival which is probably one of the biggest international comic festival. This year 3 mangas are in the main selection : I Am a Hero, Soil and Therma Romae. Chi competes in the young selection which is funny for a seinen :-)

Not the 5th anime season I was looking for but still cool news none the less saw this on comic lala japanese site today http://www.hakusensha.co.jp/natsume/

Natsume Yujinchou celebrates it's 10 anniversary January 4th! 2013 with the release of the 15th manga volume as well as it's first ever light novel adaptatoion. There will be a drawing of 100 aplicants that will be chosen at random to recieve a special bookmark and post card with there purchase of the novel or 15th tankabon.










one small note the manga started in 05 so im not sure how they figure 10 years but thats what it's saying so I guess we will roll with it plus who could argue with nyanko sensei

It's been announced that Nanika Mochigattemasu ka volume 3&7 will be relased
simultaneously January 7th. Creator KITOH Mohiro will host a radio show on January 26th to commerate the ocassion explaing the releases in further detail.

Nanika Mochigattemasu ka summary:

In the casual days of the spring of his third year in middle school, Mitsuru Hibino meets transfer student Kouzou Issha, who develops his special power. Issha commands Hibino to use his lethal “power” to “correct the errors of this world”.

Kodansha's comic Itan has been ranked in the top 5 magainze's for women in Japan a considerable achievement for the publication thats only been around for a couple years

It's been announced that 0.99 Issue of "Aoharu" a special edition of Weekly Young Jump (Shueisha) is to be released on February 1st 2013

Your link for Log Horizon isn't working: http://0taku.livedoor.biz/archives/4385339.html I assume it's the March issue of Dengeki Daioh that's out this Saturday, I think it's the only spinoff manga there that's not published online but in an actual magazine, it'd make sense considering the Railgun S April start was leaked today as well. Starts in Autumn 2013 on NHK E, 25 eps, studio Satelight.

本日1月30日に発売された月刊コミックブレイド3月号（マッグガーデン）にて、新鋭・ヤマモトマナブの新連載「リピートアフターミー」が巻頭カラーでスタートした。

「リピートアフターミー」は、人助けが趣味の女子高生が主人公のミステリマンガ。偽善行為を働いては助けた人にサインを求め、記録を残していくことが生き甲斐の主人公は、ある事件がきっかけで同じ日を10回繰り返すことになってしまう。1日を繰り返せば助けられなかった人も救えると思った主人公だったが、簡単にはいかず……。

The 16th manga volume of Kaichou wa Maid-sama! was released February 5th today in Japan to commemorate the occasion comic magazine publisher Lala began a special book promotion bring everyone's fav love birds Misaki Ayuzawa and Takumi to life in some live action posters recreating the cover of the new volume

Author Shio Takase has tweeted that her manga series Otoriyose Ouji Ida Yoshimi (Internet Shopping Prince Yoshimi Îda) will be receiving a live action drama tv series. The comedy food manga is about a 26-year-old who lives for ordering food online.
