Of course. Then lemme re-write my post, my previous post was a wish rather than a prediction.

    No reactions on goal 18?

Well I'll start then: I'm sooo glad the futsal combi didn't manage to score, and even happier that they were stopped. Too bad for Nitta though, he missed his chance and he'll probably never get the spotlight again in this match.

    I refuse to believe it!!!

Here's how I see the following action:
    - Sorimachi displays his defensive abilities by retrieving the ball
    - Japan score through either Nitta or Misaki. I'd like to see the latter doing a SSS shot which either catches the Denmark goalkeeper off-guard or is scouted and Denmark think they can defend against it when the ball bends the other way to an unmarked Nitta

As shown in this chapter, Sorimachi's so-called defensive abilities are just for filling the hole made by the futsal combi.
I wouldn't like him to steal the job of dedicated defenders anyway.

About Nitta, come on, I'll remind you of every other similar situations:
vs Italy: stopped by Gino, then did nothing else.
vs Germany: stopped by Muller, then did nothing else.
vs Mexico: stopped by Espadas, then did nothing else.
vs Sweden: stopped by Larsson, then did nothing else.
vs Brazil: stopped by Alberto, then did nothing else.
Not counting the matches where he hits the crossbar then does nothing else...
The moment Nitta shoots and misses, it's over for him.

Right now Japan is attacking and I meant he would get the ball from the rebound.

    *Waves fist angrily at Shinji*

    *Relaxes*

Okay then, what was the point of his ability improvement, which we have yet to see actually used effectively in a game (not counting one-shots)? That, plus Sorimachi being pulled back, the futsal combi being midfielders, Matsuyama not being relocated as a forward and Hyuga being missing, means to me Nitta HAS to score in this game. Either that or Misaki or the futsal combi will score at maximum one goal each and it will be a boring 1-0 or 2-1 win for Japan...

Re: This Week Golden 23 Goal 16,17,18 - Discussions and Predictions

It's the same, kind of hard to get the rebound if he's filling the hole of a futsal guy behind.

To your question, another question: What was the point of his improvement in World Youth? He used it to get revenge on the RJ7, then the only match it was actually used in was the rushed-2-digits-score Uzbekistan match.
His improvement was in Road to 2002, making his match against Wakashimazu more interesting, so it already served a purpose to the story.
I'm sure there'll be some rushed and easy-2-digits-score-matches where Nitta will score or maybe display some karate skills, just like all the others will display their usual shots/skills but in a developped match like this, that's all we can expect from him.

It's not like Sorimachi had a goal chance anyway.
Futsal combi are mid fielders, but that's no reason for them not to score (take Tsubasa, Aoi and Misaki)
Matsuyama isn't a forward, but even as a sweeper or volante, he scored more than Nitta.
Plus, there's also Misugi, who scored more than Nitta when he was just a substitute. He scored less as a Libero, but he still had a goal in an important match while Nitta hadn't.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as "boring" but it sure isn't as interesting as it could have been, since I notice the same patterns as World Youth, with the golden age having spotlight in useless training matches and new guys taking the spotlight in real matches, almost the same lineup even with players missing, the injured guy being the weak point (even worse: Akai had at least a chance to show-off before being injured, Jito will be a burden right from the start) and the usual Nitta-not-scoring-then-doing-nothing. And I don't like these patterns.

I forgive for now, because there are some patterns I like (Matsuyama being the captain, just like Tsubasa suggested he should be in World Youth), and some refreshing things like the Danish evil duo (though I sure hope they don't have a tortured past) and Jito's handshake confrontation, but so far it's hardly a match I like.

Those two Danish guys, will score one goal each.

I'm with him. Sure, midfielders can score, and even Misugi, but the best current Japanese strike on the field is none other than Nitta am I not right? Strikers jobs are to score goals (thats not the only thing they do, I admit that), but surely it would be feasible for Nitta to score at least one? I reckon Misaki will score one too and hopefully Matsuyama might show off his awesome long shot. 3-2 for me.
