    Re: Doubles Tier List

Renji returned so easily Waterfall because he knows too much Inui. Remember, the link Renji-Inui was the key to Seigaku's Kanto victory. Now was one of the keys of Seigaku's totally owned in Final's Doubles 1 (just guessing, but even with Kaidoh in Devil Mode and Inui collecting data, if the match would have continue, Seigaku'd have lost 6-2 or sth similar)

I consider that a doubles specialist will be always, if both pairs have the same level, better than the pair formed by two awesome but singles players. Renji-Kirihara has a great doubles (and singles) player, Renji, and one of the most egocentric, selfish and individual, Akaya. Akaya showed not too much doubles knowledge, but he did pretty well anyways because he's very good and could destroy the intelligent part of Inui-Kaidoh pair.

I seriously think everybody underrates Silver Pair only because they are Hyotei's. If their jacket would be yellow and black instead of white there would be no doubts that they are in the same level as Bunta-Marui

But even if you know a person, you still will have a hard time getting a serve like the Waterfall....

I did have a reason to believe that Renji/Akaya is better than Marui and Jackal, but I forgot.

Renji didnt return waterfall cuz they were old friends, renji said it himself - "your hitting course had already been made evident by my data"...and Kirihara returned it too thanks to Renjis data, so you could almost be certain that if Renji can get the data, which he probably would, he could return the neo scud, and so could devil akaya too...and I dont think Shishido will be a problem, Kirihara himself can return Fuu and Rin I believe, so a rising counter shouldnt be difficult for him.

Your arguments are really very good. But my point here is that data/mind can counter/copy 98% of the moves. There is a 2% of "special moves/abilities" that can not be countered, as we know:
-Muga can not copy Tezuka Zone (but Nioh can)
-Nioh/Shiraishi? isn´t able to counter Hoshi Hanabi
-Zero Shiki Serve seems to be impossible to copy.
-Only Jirou can use Magic Volley because of his natural flexibility
I think, it's just an opinion, Neo Scud Serve is in that list

And remember, Silver Pair isn´t only Neo Scud Serve. They seem to know a lot doubles tactics. Mirage is strange, almost impossible to do in real life but a real very good idea. I can not see Renji/Akaya or Yagyyu/Nioh creating formations

    Re: Doubles Tier List

Sure, they're not based on formations, theyre not too bothered. With Renji and Kirihara, they can break mirage, Renji is smart enough, or if Kirihara is bothered, beat them both up. Yagyuu and Nioh are magnificent bastard and gentlemen pair, they can own most ppl with tricks.

My argument is, without neo scud, silver pair are fked.

Regarding to the "uncountable moves", Nioh ciouldn't return Hoshi Hanabi because he wasn't expecting it if you were to ask me + never saw it, and it was very late in the game, Nioh had no time to respond. Zero shiki is unbreakable (how the fk do u return a serve that rolls back on impact? A rising shot from behind?). Magic volley can be prevented if you keep Jirou at baseline. Neo scud is definately breakable, its just a fast serve thats about 3km faster than Inui's serve, besides, ootori only had the chance to use it against a few opponents.

    Re: Doubles Tier List

Revived the old doubles tier list thread so that we can discuss both lists without getting into each others way. Might move some of the posts from the other thread over, not sure yet. Current list can be found in the OP.
