I'm curious: what is everyone reading now, what are you planning on reading in the near future? Anything that caught your eyes for down the road. Even though this is the seinen forum I obviously don't expect lists to be 100% seinen, if shonen, shojo, manhwa, webcomics, etc are included don't fear, no one will consider it off topic
To anyone reading this who has never read seinen, or read very few: Is there any series that has caught your eye? Need any rec's? Post about it, it can only add to the convo!
I just read volume 2 of Shingeki no Kyojin. Shonen but not exactly generic. The art looks more like Freesia than Naruto. Action fans should read, regardless of demographic.
Next I'm going to read volume 7 of Arakawa Under the Bridge, my favorite comedy manga. After that I'll finis Miyori no Mori and read City for Honests and Heretics.

I made a short detour into Shounen by reading Aria, but next will most likely be Seinen again!
Could be Piano no Mori, Bokurano, Qwan, Blade of the Immortal, Zetman, I am Hero or something else
I started reading this really enjoyable josei manga called "Oishii Kankei". I figured since it's almost done, and I can still use some broadening of my horizons PLUS I'm waiting for Wingtip Café (the scanlators) to start up Ohimesama no Yurikago by Yachi Emiko afterwards.
Some great stuff to be found in josei once you're ready for it.
Also @Kaiten: Miyori's Forest is an amazing manga. Like a mix between Igarashi and Miyazaki. Simply enchanting.
I read the first two chapters. I was waiting for the batch of volume one. Now that I finished all the new chapters of my established series I will finish it. The first couple of chapters gave me the exact vibe as you, Igarashi x Miyazaki. Speaking of, Children of the Sea vol. 4 is also on my reading list. I finally got around to buying it ^^
I am following:
- one piece
- fairy tail
- Hunter x Hunter
Last year I stopped reading D.Gray-Man, but I am planning on resuming its reading soon. Do you guys think that it is worth continuing to read DGM?
And I plan on start reading Death Note, it seems to be cool.
Currently juggling between Houshin Engi, Dorohedoro, Battle Angel Alita and Toriko. Once I'm done those I've got Violinist of Hameln, both Kurosagis and Akumetsu coming up next.
And then there's still more after that, I'm running kind of a ridiculous backlog right now.
@PiNinHu: If you dropped it because you found the story hard to follow, I'd suggest maybe waiting for the story to finish first, because the same problem is still there imo, though I still think DGM is a good manga worth reading.
As for myself, I never read that much seinen but recently I decided to change that so reading more seinen now Here are the series I am following right now (seinen only) :
- My Girl
- Saint Young Men
- Vinland Saga
- I am a Hero
Pretty pathetic, I know... I'm planning to read 3gatsu no Lion, Liar Game (already read a bit and watched the live action adaptation), Kokou no Hito, Berserk, Piano no Mori next. Not too sure about the order though.
I'll skip my usual reading or read list and mention the ones I have started or will start in days to come.
Gantz - I started it few months ago but stopped around chapter 25 or something. Couldn't find it interesting back then. However, I started to read it again since yesterday and I am on...ah chapter 287 already. Great series...need patience and concentration to appreciate the art and character design.
Omega Complex (Seinen) : Only three chapters out. Plot aint bad so far, too early to comment on characters.
I tried some other series as well 8-10 of them but not worth mentioning.
Shinobi no Kuni : Pretty neat, I am already liking it...2 chapters so far.
Next, I am planning to read Meadaka Box. Koen seems to like it, so why not give it a try.
I'm reading the stuff Kotonoha translated currently and it's really really good
Quite borderline to Yosei I'ld say, but still Seinen:
Ran to Haiiro no Sekai
Quite a beatiful and cute one, fantastic and magical. Perhaps a little closer to Shoujo often. Well, the cover tells it all
Not really aiming for realism, but a bunch of very interesting short stories
A wife disposes her cruel and violent husband by asking the lesbian woman in love with her to kill him, even though she doesn't really like her. The story begins after the murder.
I love the stuff Kotonoha translates. Really far off the mainstream, usually rather aiming of depth than coolness and such and simply really good.
Ran is one of my new favorites, along with Tomehane and Shingeki.
I just read Ran last night. I love it.
Soo... here's my current (on-going) seinen reading list:
(in order of Mangaka names as I archive them)
Horishi Takashige and Double-S' UNTIL DEATH DO US PART
Hiroya Oku's GANTZ
Hitoshi Iwaaki's HISTORIE
Inio Asano's OYASUMI PUNPUN
Kawai Katsutoshi's TOMEHANE
Kentaro Miura's BERSERK
Kiminori Wakasugi's DETROIT METAL CITY (i'm on reading hiatus on this one)
Makoto Isshiki's PIANO NO MORI
Makoto Yukimura's VINLAND SAGA
Mori Kaoru's OTOYOMEGATARI
Nakamura Hikaru's ARAKAWA UNDER THE BRIDGE
Nakamura Hikaru's SAINT YOUNG MEN
Okamoto Lynn's NONONONO (complete but scanlation ongoing)
Sakamoto Shinichi's KOKOU NO HITO
Shimoku Kio's GENSHIKEN 2
Takehiko Inoue's VAGABOND
I realized Homunculus is still in my archive but I dropped it a few weeks ago...
some I'm just hoping their scanlations will resume (like Saint young men) and some I'm still hoping the mangakas won't drop the projects (like Vagabond...)
Kopta, I love Girlfriend. It's one of my favorite manga of all time. I love short stories, and I was reading Girlfriend right after I took a course in short story writing, so I was really technical about it, and it really impressed me very much.
Also, I'm trying to read HOUROU MUSUKO (the manga adapted into an anime this season). Does anyone know if we have a thread for this?

I don't think we have a HOUROU MUSUKO thread. I've been meaning to read that, let me know how it is. It's licensed but I can't find copies in store
Bored, making a full list.
I'm leaving off any completed series. To many to list. Everything listed is currently being scanlated/published in the US, whatever the status in Japan is:
Arakwa Under the Bridge

I am a Hero
Innocents Shounen Juujigun
Children of the Sea
Kidou Ryodan Hachifukujin
Nanika Mochigattemasu ka
Ookami no Kuchi
Piano no Mori
Ran to Haiiro no Sekai
Sachiko to Neko-sama

I keep hearing it's that good, I haven't checked the anime out yet either. I've putting it off for at least a year now, I guess it's time to give it a try.
It's definitely being scanlated, I think it's caught up to Japan too!
