I liked it back in the day, but my memory might be clouded by time and nostalgia.

If anyone is looking for a couple laughs or looking for an anime to watch,
I just watched an ova called Angel Densetsu , It is worth checking out, it only had 2 episodes.
Its totally hillarious. Although if you happen to be drinking or eating something, I recommend you not do this. At least whilst watching.

I didn't know there was an OVA, can't wait to check it out.

The manga (by the same person who does Claymore even though they have nothing in common) is amazing.

Nice, after watching the 2 ovas (hope there is more). However, since I can't wait - I'm going to read up on it.

wow it's so interesting that it's by Norihiro Yagi. haha. I never would have expected that he could make something like that.

Yeah, it's completely different but it's amazing. I had never heard of it until Nindo mentioned it in the best completed series thread; then I ended up tearing through all 15 volumes in like 2 days. You can actually see a lot of things in it that artistically he would later apply to Claymore. I can't look at the most humanoid Yoma now without seeing Kitano a little bit.

It's quite the testament to Yagi that he managed to do so well with Angel Densetsu(1992) and then go right into Claymore(2001) which is just a completely opposite direction in terms of tone and plot.

And it's one really, really good comedy series to boot. I really need to finish reading the series, somehow ended up on the on hold list in the middle of it...

Miyazaki: The Problem With The Anime Industry Is It's Full of Otaku

Caused a huge stir among netizen, and pretty hilarious considering the fact that he hates iPad because of.. odd reason.

Miyazaki: The Problem With The Anime Industry Is It's Full of Otaku

    Quote Quote:
Acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki let audiences know how he really feels about the anime industry in a recent television interview. According to the recent retiree, anime suffers because industry staff is made up of otaku who "don't spend time watching real people" and are "humans who can't stand looking at other humans."

Miyazaki explained that animating people can only be done by those who spend time observing others, something he feels the industry lacks because its "full of otaku."

Miyazaki is not known for biting his tongue. Other things Miyazaki doesn't like include:

Abe Administration, the Iraq War, and the iPad, for which he compared the gestures to masturbation.

Re: General Anime and Drama News and Announcements

Miyazaki is a cranky old man. Everyone knows that. Broad generalities are always wrong, and equally unwelcome. I can't respect anyone who judges anything based on something as superficial as genre or style. I don't care if it's Miyazaki, or a random member, anyone who bases what they like on preconceived notions, without judging titles individually, is an idiot, and nothing more. Their opinion counts for nothing other than an annoyance. People like that need to learn to keep their opinion to themselves. Besides, it's 2014. Bashing moe stopped being cool five years ago. Now it just looks retarded.

It's hard to argue Miyazaki was anything less than brilliant. He's one of the most innovative, creative anime directors of all time. That doesn't mean his opinion has any real worth. It's still an ignorant, sweeping generality, lacking any real insight or credibility.

---------- Post added at 11:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 AM ----------

I love how tards act like cute girls are some sort of recent innovation. Trolls act as if prior to 2006, attractive women were not a prominent feature in entertainment. I think online manga fans have just regressed. They have all spent so much time reading stories meant for twelve year old boys, they stopped liking anything that appeals to people who have already reached puberty. Even the ones that moved on from action-shounen still seem to see anime and manga from the perspective of a prepubescent boy. "Romance is boring, anime with girls are generic, the moe girls are bad. I want magic, and adventure, and friendship, and fighting".

Miyazaki, the anime equivalent of Grandpa Simpson.

    Re: Otaku Theater: Anime Hangout

Well he does exclude many popular otaku themes in his anime. His anime are simply hard core movie art - which just happens to come from Japan. Don't get me wrong, it does have a cultural feel of the East, but it's a separate league of it's own. I would consider Miyazaki head to head with early 20th century art directors.

For Example Ingmar Bergman did not follow any rules or contemporary stuff for his films, he just did them the way he felt and his style was unique. Same can be said for Miyazaki, you just know it's him when you see his films. Not surprised he is against the standard anime that are put up nowadays I guess, they are not his style.
