    Tezuka vs Tachibana

Who do you think would have won if Tezuka and Tachibana had played Singles 1 in the prefectural tournament?

I think it would have been Tezuka, Zeroshiki Drop and TZone should have been enough to handle Tachibana at that time. I'd imagine a close result like 6-4 or something like that, though.

    Re: Tezuka vs Tachibana

I got a feeling that Tachibana is something more on par with Fuji (They were fighting before the National after all). I dn't think Fuji learn any new move so his power at that should not be as strong as Tezuka. So I think Tezuka should win this one easily, but that's just me.
Most of the thing I post is probably assumption if it's not a fact that I support using some evidence from the manga.

If you knows you're on my ignore list and you quote my post, there's high chance I would ignore you. Or answer you and not look at your response.

But can you be so sure on which level Fuji is? He has that awful habit of getting better when his counters are broken. Who knows, maybe Fuji is on Tezuka's level.

    Re: Tezuka vs Tachibana

Oooo. Im gonna go for Tachibana. I think Tezuka would be the kind of guy to pull Tachibana out of the slump he was in just like Fuji did - hey this is Shounen - plus we are talking about somebody who was part of the top four team in the previous nationals.

We have no real idea when Tezuka really had Tezuka Zone, and even if he had it, Tachibana would've broken it I think. It was really zero shiki Tachibana would have to worry about and even then, Tezuka cant over use it (MY ARMMMMMMMMMMMM) - Tachibana would overcome Tezuka with just raw power if , shounen logic provided, he gets serious. Remember Tezuka was overprotecting his arm at that point and it wasn't fully healed.

Haha, nice but if you argue with logic, then PoT logc says that Seigaku never loses. Ans this match would have been the deciding S1 afterall.

Yeah, Fuji's kinda... wild card, in a way.

Now that I think about it, I want to see Fuji and Tezuka tag team, should be a pretty cool match.

That would be a very cool match, however I'm going to have to go with Tezuka takes this easily. Tachibana is certainly a top tier player but even then he didn't really get any better by joining Fudo. He actually got worse. Sure Tezuka has his infamous weak sauce arm but I still think he's quite a bit higher than Tachibana. For example, I don't see Tachi beating Atobe at that time either.

Also, I thought Tezuka had TZone before he entered middle school because he had PoHW back then too and TZone is how he got over its weakness?
Dang, starting to get too old for manga and anime....

    Re: Tezuka vs Tachibana

Tachibana is great, but Tezuka is simply one level better
I still don´t know how could Kippei counter TZone.
But maybe, in that tournament, without the Pinnacles of Tezuka, the match would have been closer than after Finals...But you should also remember that Akaya 6-1'd Tachibana later...
They key point here is that we have seen only a true match of Tachibana, VS Chitose. We don't know for sure how good he is.
But Tezuka>Chitose. And Chitose has for me the same level that Tachibana

    Re: Tezuka vs Tachibana

I've said it many times, pre-Kantou I think Tachibana would have won. Now? I would say it would depend. If there is no growth in the match, Tezuka wins. If the match is for Tachibana's growth, Tachibana wins.

Well, I'd actually like to hear why you think Tachi would have won against Tezuka pre-Kanto (Just curious)? Between their match and Tezuka's match with Atobe, I don't think Tezuka improved at all. So, I'd say Tezuka would have fought Tachi at the same strength he fought Atobe.

Personally at pre-Kanto time I don't think Tachi would have been able to push Atobe nearly that hard or beat Atobe. Would be an epic match though. Also, it'd be close just probably not as close as Tezuka's match with Atobe. Maybe 6-4 or 7-5 Atobe.

Kantou skill levels is when Konomi was on drugs. Days when Atobe really wasn't that good, Tachibana loses to Kirihara and Inui beats Renji,

I really don't need to go on.

I have to agree, plus Echizen beat Sanada... >_< (WTH) lol, I get so pissed at how much of a D-bag Atobe (my favorite) used to be... but on topic I Tachibana gave that match to Chitose and we don't know his real strength. I think Tezuka would win, but Tachibana would be one that won't allow himself to loose easily. It would be very close... I think

People are still on about this? Echizen has never lost an official match...sure logically he should have lost...but:

-This is a tennis manga, and in tennis upsets happen ALL the time. Echizen beating Sanada isn't a stretch by any means.
-Echizen is the main character and is broken, logic doesn't need to be taken any further than that.
-Like all sports manga Seigaku is the Cinderella team..while it would have been more meaningful to beat the reining champs at the nationals beating them hear was still important.

As for the topic at hand?

Tezuka would have won, Fuji wasn't as good as Tezuka and barely beat Kirihara who smacked Tachibana.

But in addition to that, Kippei just wasn't himself, until the blod hair pops up that tachibana was nothing to be feared, i'd even guess he didn't have beast aura pre-kantou either.

    probably...6-2

you seem to be on it a whole lot more than me, I just liked what fayte said, and was merely having a little fun with it. I don't go through the trouble of explaining things that aren't a big deal to me... nice explanation by the way. I do agree that Tezuka would take the match, it is only my opinion that Tachibana would give him a run for his money. I for one notice that the author has always seemed to give Tezuka a certain respect for Tachibana.

They both were invited to the Junior Camp, so it's logical. Tezuka didn´t come, so Sengoku (?) went in his place. And Tachibana was stated to be one of the Two Wings of Kyushu, or whatever, with Chitose
After reading a bit Tachibana's matches, I'm absolutely convinced that he lost a lot of potential going to Fudoumine (even Shinji and cia realized that http://www.onemanga.com/Prince_of_Tennis/236/18-19/ http://www.onemanga.com/Prince_of_Tennis/237/02/ and http://www.onemanga.com/Prince_of_Tennis/237/03/)
