Glad there was an explanation for all of that Naruto wank at the beginning of this thread. >.>

Clare vs. Priscilla was fairly anticipated. Clearly she isn't ready to kill her yet though. I also liked the build-up for Kenichi vs. Odin.

Goku vs. Freiza was the biggest for me 10 years ago. Kenshin vs. Shishio comes a little after that high though.

She is the 2nd oldest Shinigami in the Gotei 13 after Yamamoto. Ukitake and Shunsui got lots of hype so them acknowledging her as their senior played a part in it.

There was also that meme about Aizen always trying to stay away from Unohana when he ran from her in Soul Society and then she was one of the captains trapped in HM.

The hype comes from these two things most likely.

    my most anticipated fights were/are:
    1. Naruto vs Pain (Naruto) - the epicness
    2. Aizen vs Shinji (Bleach) - damn dissapointed, lasted for less than a chapter COME ON KUBO!!!
    3. Hohenheim vs Papa (FMA) - ongoing - so far epic
    4. Aizen vs Urahara (Bleach - the awesomeness begins next chapter, let's hope it will be longer than Aizen vs SHinji
    5. Kabuto vs Raikage - I really want that to happen. would be awesome

Re: The most anticipated fight in anime/manga history?

Tough one, but I guess we can also take fights that already happened.
    My list would be:

    Manga

    Devilbats vs Oujou [ Eyeshield 21 ]
Chose this one, because I anticipated this fight the whole time I was catching up to the manga.

Zorro vs Mihawk [ One Piece ]
I really hope that we will get to see this fight, I don't want an offscreen defeat or anything in the epilogue ^^

    Anime

    Ed + Lin vs Envy [ FMA B ]
I still remember how impressed I was, when I saw Envy's true form the first time, it was the first thing I wanted to see animated in Brotherhood.

For most people Sasuke vs Itachi and Sasuke vs Naruto was / is probably the most anticipated fight, but I could care less about Naruto or Bleach, because I always got disappointed

Kenshin V Shishio is definitely better than Naruto vs Sasuke in matters of buildup.
But who knows? There is still time for a buildup!
I second that, though with Harimoto as an opponent I guess it can be called a three way confrontation which is one of the the reasons it's more interesting/anticipated...I vote Akiyama vs. Yokoya vs. Harimoto

Roy vs Envy, Fullmetal Alchemist. That fight had been coming for nearly 20 volumes.

Kenshiro vs anyone who stands against him in his war on internal organs.

Guts vs Griffiths (We'll have to wait until the sun goes nova for this one)

Yusuke vs. Toguro was also pretty anticipated. The rising detective against one of the seemingly strongest man at the time.

That will most likely be the climax of the series, the last fight or the last fight before Madara is confronted.

Luffy vs. Blackbeard, can't wait for that. Knowing Oda that could happen this year or in ten.

Other than Luffy v BB.. I'm also looking forward to the rematch of Zoro v Mihawk.

Re: The most anticipated fight in anime/manga history?

As the Tiger & Bunny fan that I am, and as the Kotetsu and Lunatic fan that I am as well, one fight I’m definitely looking forward to is the Kotetsu vs. Lunatic fight. Based on what is happening with Kotetsu in the anime atm, I’m a bit worried about the feasibility of said fight. However, it Kotetsu vs. Lunatic takes place I’m sure it will be an amazing fight filled with great action and intense emotion, especially if Kotetsu
Spoiler:  don’t read if you are not watching the anime show

Re: The most anticipated fight in anime/manga history?

1.As Cblitz said before me: Gutts vs Griffith.

Quality wise this has gotta be the top of the list.

2.As many ppl said before me: Naruto vs Sasuke.

judging from popularity of manga/anime, Naruto vs Sasuke does probably deserve to be called "the most anticipated fight in anime/manga history". All narutofans have their personal fanfics of this

    3. Alucard vs Anderson

i personally craved for this when i was reading Hellsing.

    4. Spike vs Vicious(anime)

the build up for it previous couple of episodes was so beautiful,so artistic. the fight itself delivered the goods so brilliantly. its not exactly long anticipation that i felt, cause cowboy bebop is a beautifully random series which didn't really tried hard to concentrate on any one point...still at the end...the fight did build up a great sense of eagerness in viewers imo.

    5. Tenma vs Johann (anime)

i didn't read the manga. i've heard the anime is very loyal to the manga. The anticipation was long and intense, almost like a chronic pain in stomach . Though its not much of a fight and no one actually expected it to be i guess. What one is likely to expect to see how they face off and resolve the matter between them and it didn't disappoint one bit in that regard.

there must some fights that were greatly anticipated in DBZ,OP and Inuyasha fandoms...i guess they could compete with Naruto for the title inquestion. Also i didn't take any competition of intelligence(like light vs L) into consideration cause frankly, this doesn't come to mind when one say "most anticipated FIGHT".

This is indeed the fight that i most look forward .o, and i hope that Kishi gives everything to make this fight the best ever ! Lately the fights lack "unpredictability" so i hope that Kishi starts using more again this that was what made most of us fall in love for the battles of Naruto back in Part I.

It will be definitely in ten, so i am glad that though i want to see this fight, i ain't really caring about it.

Actually i also share the same opinion has you. A fight between those 2 would be nothing else than happening, but before this can happen, Zoro still needs to improve a lot more, cuz if not, he won't stand a chance against Mihawk.
