I guess they make it plain so it's easier to animate it. It's just, the scarf Tsurara and Setsura wears have different pattern and to think the anime don't considered about it make me thought maybe the anime will only reach Shikoku (or even worse, Gyuuki).
In the page, it's also written that Tagashira (the one responsible for youkai design) have made more than 100 youkai design. So I guess there will be a lot of original youkai for the anime, or maybe they are prepared for the filler?
When I see Toufu-kozou picture more closely, it appears that the thing around his ear is not hair, but his hat's rope. Still, his head is bigger than the original.
Nattou-kozou looks cool though, so no complain for that.
EDIT:But if I think about it again. Youkai in Nura's house until Shikoku arc, with including the mob youkai that only appear for a brief of time, it may make the 100 already. So there's the possibility all of the (more than) 100 youkai she designed is from the manga with only a few original.

if the first season of the anime is successful, they will renew it. Especially that it's not a late nite anime. Again, I really don't think scarf pattern matter that much. They can easily created Setsura with a pattern while Tsurara is plain, hardly a thing to judge whether this is going to be short or not.

Not all Jump manga that get anime adaptations are long-running successes like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Gintama, and Reborn. Eyeshield 21 and DGM had decently long runs but were then cancelled. To-LOVE-Ru (though it does have OVAs), Hatsukoi Limited (for obvious reasons), Ichigo 100%, Black Cat, and Neuro were all short series.

If Mago is popular it won't have anything to worry about as far as getting renewed for more seasons, this will also serve to increase the popularity of the manga as well...just look at Bleach. If it isn't a big hit it will most likely have one or two seasons and have a filler ending obviously.

Read my post carefully, I said that scarf pattern are hardly any reason the series will be short. I do hope it will be a long runner, but in the end it's success is the one that decide it. Most of the short run jump anime xio give as an example are all late nite anime, which never get more than 12 or 24 episodes. It's not really good examples. If mago is a prime time, I think there's little to worry about

Made a glance to anime list in BS 11. Almost all of them are midnight. There is a minor (middle-schooler) smoking and drinking too, so I think prime time won't do, except if they changed the sake into water and Rikuo (night ver) stop smoking.

But the sakazuki and the smoking occur when Rikuo is in the night version. He doesn't look like a minor then. That could be a loophole.

In japan, a minor is is a person under 20 years of age. In One Piece, Sanji is 19 years old but smoke all the time and One Piece is prime time. Anyway, Mago's demographic doesn't reach the late nite audience like Neuro does. Black Cat is a just a dumb executive decision, it's even less violent than the manga but they still put it in the late nite spot, look what happen

Rikuo have age setting of 13, so I don't know if he transforming to his night form can be a loophole because he still a 13 years old...
Also when he exchange sakazuki with his attendants, he only did that in his night form with Tsurara and Kappa, while he was in his human form with the other.
I don't know, BS 11 is satellite channel, so maybe they won't take it into account because it's not a national wide tv channel?
EDIT:I guess if it's alright with one piece, maybe it won't be a problem...

We're not even sure BS11 is the only channel to air it. Mago is a mainstream shonen action manga, it will be weird if it doesn't have a nation wide channel. Considering it already got Tokyo MX, TBS or MBS will probably air it. Anyway, you have to diferentiate between prime time and children's time slot. Prime time usually targets many demographic at once, because prime time is where both children and adults watched. This is the reason why kids oriented series like One Piece can even get adult viewer. Not only anime, toku series like Kamen Rider which is played at prime time has many adult viewers not only children. Also, if I remember correctly if the character who is smoking is not a human, mostly it's not a problem.

so we can only hope that it got into prime time (well gintama get kicked out prime time(forget when it happen) but can have 201 episode(end?) and currently having special re-run after moving to another time slot and also get 1 moviein april(finaaly))

than it's explain that nuramago will be just like another popular jump that got animation because it will get some some explanation that can connect the story( i feel it when watching bleach especially the filler(bounto arc or whatever the name again i have forgot it) between saving rukia arc and arrancar arc when it's explain about how ichigo can use bankai in his world not like in manga he just shout bankai until he transform)

A filler arc? That would be too much original... I think it will be more like the bonus page in the manga. Like the parts where Tsurara and Ao followed Rikuo from behind to school as his escort, or when Rikuo looked his photo album of school events he found Tsurara and Ao also inside the photo, or how Tsurara and Ao chosen as escort. Too much original may ruin the story. Also notice that he said "not add to much original", so he intends to make original anyway...
For Shikoku arc though, they make Rikuo and Kubinashi hair color different, wouldn't that make it hard when Kubinashi disguise as Rikuo?
