What I don't get is "wtf he was thinking"....did he say to himself and the few assistants at his side like "hey this manga Bleach isnt very popular nor is this hellsing one either, so lets lay down some trace paper throw in some more traced script and get this bad boy published...no one will ever be the wiser, I mean hell no americans ever read manga...like ever.....HEY HEY un-named assistant one, your doing a horrid job at tracing "kenpachi" keep it up!!" end quote ..thats how I imagine that whole process going down

Guy is so retarded is beyond imagination. He copy-past Kenpachi and change clothes and Hair color and he call himself mangaka? Man, just wow...
I do myself manga, started few weeks ago, and even i can make unique characters and unique story. IF he wants some satistaction he better stop, and create something on his own. He is a rock star's son, i just dont belive he does manga for money only. Copying other ppl's mangas isnt fun, its just dumb. Its like trying to build new car from parts stolen from neighbour's car's and call's himself innovator. And for Kubo. I dont know if you read this, but please do something. You made awsome manga, and some rich kid just stole your ideas. Cast some kido and burn his ass :]

If we all look at this is in a different light, we can think of Inarnate as being the alternate dimension of Bleach [and other mangas], like the Crises Saga in the Marvel Universe. Obviously Nick has enormous talent- for ctrl+c and ctrl+v.

This whole thing is hilarious. Oh well, at least I found out Kubo has a twitter page. This comic looks terrible anyways, but there are legitimate doujins of BLEACH though right? How does that work. Like do they have to get permission from WSJ or is there some legal process?

There's usually a gap between the management side of a business and the production/service side. I wouldn't be surprised at all if none of their paper pushers ever actually read any comics.

I wonder if maybe this isn't a publicity stunt of some sort though. I find it hard to believe anyone would be dumb enough to trace characters out of an immensely popular manga and think he can get away with it.

well they do say that there's no such thing as bad publicity, but when everything is done, nobody is gonna take him seriously. I doubt any publisher would want to touch anything he does anymore

Japan has pretty lax copyright laws about this stuff which is why doujins can get published. Probably why Kubo doesn't care so much

how could he have gotten as far as he did with this comic, didnt someone catch this? or did they all just think it would be fine to try and appeal to the same audience that is already familiar with bleach and hellsing?!

the ulquiorra panels are the exact same, the orihime copied character is the exact same, and now only is the kenpachi look alike a total rip off appearence wise, it seems to have the same personality!

and now i see the situation with the main character is a copy of the ichigo/ hollow transformation scene. geez.

Well, he did copy bleach, hellsing and a bunch of other stuff. Certainly unoriginal but I would have a hard time believing it was bad -simply too much fail to believe lol-

all of you saying that he deserves jail and all that tho, youre being too harsh.
plagiarism is pretty gay on an artist to artist level, because its someone making money off your idea.
but still, taking a drawing and making it your own makes it yours regardless of how much it still resembles the other guys work. does it mean that you have no talent and should kill yourself? not necessarily. Wether you make money off of it is really up to the consumer.

lets say i copy bleach characters like this kid did, and change their names, make a way better storyline and give them much better characteristics. why the hell should i go to jail. granted i rip off the original artist, but the new thing is still my own work. wether it be gayed or not.

It's acceptable to a certain extend, but there's still a limit to how much you can make homages...
And Simmons clearly went too far, he totally took character design and drawing style from Bleach and said it was his own...
