Yukimura isn't in Court 5 because he has yet to be put into a shuffle match against a Court 5 player to beat.
I believe Konomi made Akutsu stay behind to have him train/battle with Oni. There is some tension going on between those two. I believe Oni could be responsible for Akutsu's development.

So in theory, you believe that those three could've been in the first string top 20 but only stayed behind to be a) Japans trump cards and B) train the middle schoolers and C) prevent any useless players climbing higher?
Hmmm I'm more interested in the new Court 1 guy.
Kazuya's only a 2nd Year in High School, so that could be why he addresses Shouji so respectfully, but Shouji just seems to exude hidden power from him imo XD
As for a list of stuff we know about the high schoolers right now
Tokugawa Kazuya - 2nd Year
Tanegashima Shouji - 3rd Year
Irie Kanata - 3rd Year
Yamato Yuudai - 2nd Year
Matsudaira Chikahiko - Unknown
Miyako Shinobu - Unknown
Suzuki Shun - Unknown
Washio Issa - Unknown
Nakagauchi Sotomichi - Unknown
Oni Juujirou - 3rd Year
I find it interesting that Kazuya is only a 2nd Year and already in Court 1. I wonder if there are any 1st Year High Schoolers around and if we'll be seeing any other alumni form different schools. Maybe those 3rd years Atobe killed when he was a 1st year at Hyoutei. Maybe they're on Court 2 or 4 now and want vengeance on Atobe lol.
Tokugawa Kazuya is definitely is a rikkai alumni.Look at Akaya calling him big brother. He seems to know him..Another one i can think of is nishiki, an OB from rikkai.I wonder if he's in the camp.
I still think that the line-up of the challengers is pretty weird.
Specially D2 and S3. Everyone would have loved a D2 with two of the trio Akutsu/Kirihara/Krauser, or even Gin or Kite, and keep Shiraishi for the Singles match. Shiraishi needs a good lose, and he deserves an epic Singles match. I simply can not see him pairing with Kirihara, except if you want to play a game called Bible+Devil.
Atobe is going to face Irie, his last real match was VS Ryoma when, 3 years ago?, and fangirls could get angry. It's going to be 2-2 at that time, I can not see another scenario. And the only possible way to get two points is Krauser winning (D2 and Tez VS Yamato looks really a very hard match for Court 5),and I have no fu****** idea how the hell will he win.
Nishiki ain't that great, he got owned by Sanada, I think 6-3 without even using any skills.
and Kazuya was only 2nd year? =O
And anybody wanting vengeance from Atobe wont get it. I just know it. Apart from those beast.
Mega prediction time:
Irie is in fact the old Hyotei captain. Since apparently everyone gets a makeover in high school, that's why hyotei didn't recognize him.

Nishiki is a 1st year high schooler atm and he probably never played Yamato. Besides, its a new and improved Yamato. And anyway, I got the impression that middle school tennis was pretty weak before the series started - just take a look at Kanto Atobe and Tezuka. Furhtermore, I'm pretty sure Rikkai's 2nd national winning pattern revolved around Sanada, Yukimura and Yanagi. Marui and Jackal were known double pairs so they mustve been regulars. Two spots left for Nishiki and most likely Niou. At any rate, before the rules were changed, two auto doubles and one singles were enough to win so Yanagi + someone, Rikkai Pair and Sanada.Quote:
Damn you Konomi...
just move this shit to WSJ again. I can't wait until June...
does anyone have a pic of nishiki? I don't remember him...
Inoue refers to him on the following page as "a member of last year's championship team", so I assume he was probably an important part of that team.
