What is your least favorite story arc in One Piece?

The arc was there to bring new allies and villains and to build the new age. It was great to see the return of past villains and the new allies, but I also didn't expect Oda developping their fight really much since it wasn't his goal since the beginning. I clearly don't see how a full focus on those characters fight and skills would be good for this arc, they are nto the SH crew whom their progression was followed by us for a long time.

I prefer to see them (villains/marines) to show all their strength against the SH's crew than now.

All One Piece arcs are excellent, that unique brand of action, emotions and surprises sets One Piece apart from other manga.

The Marineford arc had the action in the battles between some of the most powerful characters revealed in the story so far, emotion in the deaths of Whitebeard and Ace and surprises in Blackbeard obtaining Whitebeard's ability, Law making an appearance etc.

The very fact that many of the users here have different opinions on what has been the best arc so far is a testament to the brilliance of One Piece. Personally, I voted top 5 as the Baroque Works arc remains my favorite (Vivi~ <3).

It's not the best for me simply because it lacked the rest of the strawhats and it was too frantic. it was non stop. shit just kept getting realer and realer

im think when we see this arc animated, its going to be great. i think it will end up being the second best arc in the manga so far behind enies lobby of course.

I couldn't agree any more!! This arc is almost crying to be animated...
And as far as anime, it will raise the overall sentiment as well IMO.

And honestly the further beyond the war we get, the more I respect it's place in the story. I mean let's be honest it was overload!!! So much went down, and we saw glimpses of so many characters...
I'll follow popular slang... Epic!!!!!!

While this Arc pales in comparison to say EL or Arabasta (Hell one of my fav is Arlong Arc..) I'm coming to further respect the intent and repercussions of the war.

Not the best, but in my top 5.
For me this arc is the most important because of 2 things:
1) This will be a starting point to the future, al the things that hapenned here will be unfold in a near future, such as the space left for WB, and what about his crew, Marine Ford, BB, New World, the reunion of the SH's and many other things.
2) For me, the most important thing, since the story is developed based in his adventures; the impact caused on Luffy after seeing his brother killed right in front of his eyes.

Oh jeebus, this. The opinions on this arc are literally all over the place. Well I give Oda props for having the guts to do what he hasn't done since chapter 2 of the series, make Luffy in a single protagonist again. Tear him away from his crew and force him through a series of hardships and trails on his own.

I STILL hate Oda for Ace's death. Not BECAUSE he died, but the way he died. I mean, dammit, it would've been better just to have him killed on the scaffold. Luffy managed to freaking RESCUE HIM. He HAD to die protecting his littler brother? Really? REALLY? I know it's Oda being unpredictable as usual, but that just seemed like overkill. I thought Ace was going to live (which is the point I know, but there are limits to trolling people >___<)

I like the arc though, before it got depressing. Luffy teaming up with the big-shots and meeting Whitebeard. I had to keep my voice down since I was cheering at 12 AM at night XD

I really liked the arc, was one of the best for me.
Of course i missed the SHs, but not that much. To be honest, i kind of have more interest in the big picture than in their solo adventure, but that's personal. I think that i would be happy even without Luffy there!(regreting what i said)

I totally get the lack of 1x1 battles.. it was an all out war, the flow is always changing.
I was sad and almost cried with Ace's death(like I almost cried when Merry "died"), but i understand it.
I was a little disapointed with the lack Garp and Sengoku fighting scenes, because we probably won't see they fighting in the future(mainly now that both stepped down). And I know, we saw Sengoku abilities but that was too little to my taste.

The only 3 things that I really hated in the arc were:
-BB getting WB powers! I hated it, i think it was anti-climatic(after WB speach and all) and when i read the spoilers of it, i was sure that this was fake(and wasn't, mad*).
-Akainu got pwned by WB, 3 chapters later he was all right and trashing every single pirate left!
-The pirates suffered 2 HUGE losses and a lot of big shots were almost gone too. Meanwhile the marines lost just fodders and almost all the top fighters were all right when the war was over.

We have no statistic to who's dead and who's alive, so you can't really state that no high ranking marine soldier died, cause we haven't seen someone from the top 10 fall.

I don't want to restart an old discussion, but the first punch of WB was a sucker punch, fair or not isn't the point, but Akainu couldn't really react to it. So it's no real suprise that got more wary after that he was mowed down. Would be sad if such an elite soldier coudn't go on after a quick knock down.

Depends on what you mean by high rank. If you mean as high as a vice admiral then I doubt Oda will kill off a marine vice admiral off panel. Tbh, whoever was killed in the war off panel and their death isn't even referred back to in the future it means that they could probably be easily replaced. Its obvious that such characters only purpose was to simply to create a war like effect by being killed. Oda can replace fodders with more fodders any time. It wouldn't hurt Oda in the slightest bit to kill off no name characters that all look the same i.e fodders because of this. That is why they are there, to fill those positions that strong useful characters shouldn't fill whilst still doing a good job in creating a typical war zone. However, its possible that in the future, vice admirals could be treated like fodder and can be killed off and replaced any time. Its possible since in naruto, jonins have now become genins in the face of naruto and sasuke

it was a good arc, no doubt (what one piece arc isn't good? ) but it was nowhere near as good as Water 7/Enies Lobby arc, that was just epic. I also preferred the Jaya/Skypiea arc to it.

I know that we don't have accurate data about the deaths, but by the top fighters i mean vice-admirals or higher. They would be compared with the Division Commanders of WB pirates or some allied NW captains.
I don't believe that some VA died off screen. Anyway, the things i disliked were absolute my personal opnion... i didn't like the way that they happened, but i didn't say that they were wrong or bad.

It cannot be the best arc simply because the Straw Hat Pirates were not involved. Only Luffy went to Marineford and it was Marine + Shichibukai against Yonkou Whitebeard. Anyway, it was really well done knowing all the important characters there fighting at the same time. I didn't know how Oda could deal with that and he did it so great.

I rank it on the top 5 but this arc had more to do with the plot and set up, than with it being the greatest thing on earth... it was all to set up Luffy's mind on "BEING STRONGER", to set up the chaos that will come after the death of such a big shot, and to set up the big war at the end of One Piece!

It is my #2 mainly for ID, but if we compare it to other manga's is better than anything I've seen, but the bar is really as higher as it can be! W7/EL was just over the top, and if something tops that, I guess people will have an orgasm without sex related content!

I have the same problem with this arc - too little nakamaship. Huge politics, world powers, monster fights, deciding the future... where is my nakama? All the awesomness of OP world won't make up for that :P
