haha yeah i still listen to joy division. Yet to see the film though.
They released a 'best of' a few weeks ago, I've been thinking of purchasing it.
Now they can't help reminding me of Editors and Interpol.

post-hardcore you say? those bands are the new post-hardcore, you should listen to the original, raw post-hardcore from fugazi and at the drive-in, legendary bands of the past... also i think the best post-hardcore band of the past few years is thursday, but only on their indie labels, their major label albums are shit...

Glassjaw? GODLY! i first listened to glassjaw from a friend, and i thought, this is unlike anything i've heard before. got instantly hooked to the band. i think they're around the experimental genre more than post-hardcore. glassjaw and thrice have the same feel, awesome bands

yeah! i knew i liked you

i prefer glassjaw to thrice, but i like them both. i also prefer them to head automatica, which has the same lead singer. i don't dislike them, but it just doesn't feel quite right to hear daryl singing pop. the first time i heard head automatica, i was like, "wtf? this is so weird!" it's not surprising to me, but it seems that most people like one band or the other, but not both.

damn i know how you felt, at that time i saw on an article daryl palumbo has a new band, i checked it out, and when i listened, i thought this was meant for dancefloors not moshpits. of course i was freaked out, "what is he thinking??" but then i kept listening to the decadence album, and by the end of the day it's stuck to my mind, i mean you gotta admit it was too funky to let go so i also got the 2nd album which was much better

    Re: The Music Thread

Way too many bands to list in all. I listen to mainly metal and rock, but a good share are more experimental than the average band. I can't stand rap/hip hop/R&B/pop/dance music in general.

    Aborym
    Enslaved
    Hollenthon
    Limbonic Art
    Marty Robbins
    Johnny Cash
    Andres Segovia
    Vicente Amigo
    Beethoven/Mozart/Chopin/Tchaikovsky/Bach/Wagner etc.
    Behemoth
    Carcass
    Death
    Hypocrisy
    Morbid Angel
    Nile
    Vader
    Candlemass
    Cathedral
    Katatonia
    Orange Goblin
    Solitude Aeturnus
    Paradise Lost
    Tiamat
    Danzig
    The Doors
    Faith No More
    George Thorogood
    Green Carnation
    Led Zep
    Pink Floyd
    The Cult
    Van Halen
    Alchemist
    Anacrusis
    Ihsahn/Peccatum
    Iron Maiden/Judas Priest
    King Diamond/Mercyful Fate
    Queensryche
    Red Harvest
    Arcturus
    Atheist
    Spastic Ink/Watchtower/Blotted Science
    Borknagar
    Control Denied
    Cynic
    King Crimson
    Nevermore
    Opeth
    Therion
    Voivod
    Coroner
    Bathory
    Celtic Frost
Dark Angel/Exodus/Kreator/Slayer/Metallica/Possessed/Destruction (lots of 80's Thrash)
    Venom

And that's just the tip of iceberg, and yes I've listened to all these bands a ton.

My Top 5 Favorite Bands at the moment would be (In no particular order)

    Faith No More
    Death
    King Crimson
    Therion
    Hypocrisy

Faith No More and Death would be my top two favorite all time bands.

    Re: The Music Thread

I'm currently listening to Metallica's new album, Death Magnetic. It's awesome, kinda hard to believe that most of these guys are in their 40s.

I hope that this can be their "White album".

    Re: The Music Thread

    Death Magnetic is out already?
Well I listen two of there songs "The Day that never comes" and "Cyanide" thought they were good, and i think (hopefully) this is going to be better than there last album.

Slipknots's All is Gone was great (Psychosocial was awesome) and Scars on Broadway is good as well
