I was just rereading the arc and I can't believe I missed it, but now I'm as certain about this as I am of Kuma telling Rayleigh a secret.
"Luffy I want you to listen to what I say right now ... and tell it to the guys afterwards." - Ace
I thought he was just saying his goodbyes but now I think he is revealing a giant plot related secret.
I think you on to something. The way of Luffys face when Ace says it and how he continues to say "and Luffy" afterwards hints on it being something more then just a goodbye.
am i stupid.............because i have no idea what you guys are talking about
Now that you mention it, that is rather intriguing.
This is what I imagine it to be "Everything is going according to plan", or, "Shanks is the future you...", or "I am your father".
Seriously though...any ideas? Must be something that will be quite significant in the future.
Mangastream's translation sort of indicating the opposite,
onemanga's and mangashare's sort of leaving it in the middle.
I personally think Ace's talking about sharing the line about "why was I born for ?,"
and his own answer for it, to the rest of the priates. But yeah, it's that one panel
with Luffy going " ...!? " that makes it looks like Ace has said something behind the
You should edit the topic title, not everyone knows about Ace's death. The title is a major spoiler.
i thought he told him to tell everyone thank you wasnt that it .
So within "....." in Ace's goodbye speech you guys are expecting some sort of a secret dying message? Am I getting this thread right?
Those "..." are pattern of breaks within his speech. He didn't had the strength to speak fluently without breaks. Since his internal organs were burned to freaking toast.

I also don't think that he said something of importance except his goodbye. With anything else his goodbye would lose it's drive
I think the important thing Ace mentioned is Sabo. First when I saw him I thought that he could have died and Ace promised to live on but recently I got on the train "Sabo might live and might have fled".
I totally missed that!!
I know that Kuma said something to Rayleigh.
It was the last time that Kuma was seen as a human (before he really became a machine), so he did what he could to change the world (helped the strawhats escape and told a secret to Rayleigh).
And, it really does seem like Ace said something to Luffy!
For those who doesn't see what we're talking about, look at the lowest-right corner.
On that panel, Ace say : "Luffy, listen to what I have to say and tell the others afterward".
On the next panel, we don't hear what Ace say, but we see Luffy's reaction (!!)
The simple fact that he says "Tell the others", means that he only told him...
So I doubt that it is the "Thanks" that he yelled to everyone.
It would be a lot better (plot-wise) if it was a secret.
I guess we will see a flashback of that scene once Luffy straight up his mind, and we will learn the secret that Ace told Luffy.

Uhhh...let me quote cnet's translation:
If you think that in the small ellipses Ace left, amongst the enormous amount of ellipses that occured in this chapter, that Ace told Luffy some enormous secret, I cannot agree with you.Originally Posted by cnet 574 translation
He mentions his voice getting quiet, asks Luffy to pass on his dying will message of "Thank you so much" whilst also giving that message to Luffy.
There's no secret here.
Luffy goes "!" because he was clinging on to the hope that Ace would pull through. Tell me if you ever have a chat to someone when they're dying and they say "These are my last words" and you don't perk up and listen with a "!" above your head. If you don't, you're asleep.
Geez you guys read into things too much. Is this going to go the same way as the "Pirate Summit"?
I don't think you read the chapter.
Here is the secret lol
@kkck - But, why would that be what he said to Luffy, if he is just going to say it to everyone anyway?
Why would Ace tell Luffy something and ask him to tell it to everybody else, when that is exactly what he did himself? Just a waste of panels?
That's what I thought the first time I read the chapter as well ^^^, the whole Ace must be just saying goodbye to Luffy.
However, the defining panel is the bottom middle panel.
Especially when Ace said "AND ...".
He told Luffy the secret and now he's ready to say "thank you so much".
Besides, Ace is older than Luffy and has been with WB's crew for a while, he is bound to know something about the world that WB's crew knows and some old timers know that the common people doesn't know. If Ace knew ANYTHING, that was the only time he can share it with Luffy.
