I think the most notable thing about that England squad is that Downing is in there

Seriously...he was shit the whole season.

Not just him but Andy Carroll too. Also surprised that Micah Richards isn't in the squad either.

Indeed, missing three consecutive penalties is just talent. At least with Ronaldo, he'll only miss one out of every two, and it'll just happen to be in the biggest match of the year.

    Congratulations for Chelsea!

I thought Bayern was going to win, but it seems their luck is running out. I feel sorry for Bayern especially after seeing Schweiny's sad face.

That match was boring up until Bayern scored, they had previously missed a host of chances with most falling to Mario Gomes and once they had scored with Muller; I thought it was game over. But Drogba bullet header bought it back minutes before the end. Following that it was just a free for all. I agree that Chelsea were hanging on and Bayern were the better team, not even Chelsea would dispute that but football is a funny game when it come to penalties.

More importantly, Chelsea's win means they steal Spurs' Champions League place!

It's been awesome since we won the CL.

Even as a hardcore Chelsea fan, I'll freely admit that we didn't play that well and Bayern were the better team, but in a few decisive moments, we came out on top, but football's about who wins and who loses, not how you get there.

Psychologically, Chelsea had successfully maintain their calmness throughout the match, so I agree that Chelsea did not really play that bad. Bayern seems too rushed when they want to turn their opportunity into goal, and during the penalty shootout, maybe because they were in their home, they couldn't keep their confidence anymore. Van Buyten in for Mueller was also a fatal mistake in my opinion.

Maybe for each team either half? that'd be cool

The rules of the match were that he's supposed to be playing for Holland, but he could come on and play for Bayern as well. Who knows.

On other news, Chelsea confirmed that they were parting ways with Drogba today. Even though I'm unhappy that he's gone, scoring the late equalizer and the winning penalty in the CL Final was a great sending off for him.

How come I never knew of this thread???

Anyhow, watching Bayern vs Holland. You barely ever see a match like that.

But it's interesting(at least it was in the first half).Funny how you can notice that Bayern is still down.

It was alright in the beginning, they scored 2 goals each in the first thirty minutes, but after that,it went downhill. Mainly because they kept changing players in order to test them,so a stable game was almost impossible. Especially Munich did not really seem to enjoy the game at all(obviously). I switched the channel somewhere in the second half, because it got boring.

Hopefully Munich's loss in the Champions Leauge won't affect Germany's performance in the EC too much.
