Im sure most of you remember, the first encounter between Jiraiya and Itachi + Kisame. Where Jiraiya is just about to capture them, when they escape with the help of Amatseru. Jiraiya at the time seal the remaining flames from amatseru into a scroll to study later.

And since then it hasn't been brought up in the manga ever again... So anyone have any idea what happened? o.o

I'm pretty sure that J-man had to of figured out how to at least put it out. If he figured this out I'm sure that it has to be one of the techniques Naruto has learned with J-man. As of yet we've only seen two techniques that Naruto has learned from J-man and that's an improved Rasengan and using the 9 tails. So I doubt that Naruto has learned only these two techniques in 2.5 years. He managed to learn rasengan in one week. Learned how to split leaves in 2 days... Naruto has always been able to learn techniques in a hurry so... I'm sure will get to see them eventually.

Spelling Question about 'Henge' ; what the characters yell when they transform their appearence...

Hi it's my first post *geek*

Right so basicly, I'm doing the cover for my doujinshi, and like a good girl try and check up the spelling in a dictionary or two. Two hours later and I'm still scratching my head...

Henge and Hengen have different meanings, but both are associated with transformation. They're nouns which can take on 'suru'... Henge literaly means a 'spirit with the capacity to transform' and encompasses Kitsune, Tenguu and Tanuki. 'Hengen' means literaly 'transformation'. As I'm not japanese and have never taken a lesson in my life, I don't doubt that I could have mistaken 'hengen' for 'henge'... I'm sorry if my information is inaccurate, I've been trying a lot of sources and this is the 'gist' I can get.

Anyway, given my lack of fluency (so I can't listen carefully enough) lack of an original japanese manga to check the spelling (it'd be in the first ten pages of the first chapter, if anyone's cool enough to have one to hand) and lack of a japanese speaking friend who I keep around only to bother with such pestilent questions.. can any of you guys answer my query? ^_^;

It's written 変化.

変 : Root kanji of the verb "to change"
化 : Usually pronounced "ka", it means "transformation" among other things.

Old question, but I thought I'd answer anyways.

Jiraiya analyzed the black flames and gained info on Amatearsu probably. How do I know this?

Right after Sasuke vs Itachi, Naruto & go rush towards the scene of the Uchiha hideout and Naruto & Kakashi notice the black flames and both of them(or one of them at least) calls the jutsu "Amaterasu" yet nobody in that group had experienced or even seen/confronted Amaterasu(Naruto briefly glimpsed it but didn't know what it was). Therefore, the common link between naruto & Kakashi would be Jiraiya and that could very well mean Jiraiya researched the black fire and learned a bit about Amaterasu.

I have been trying to keep up with the recent manga chapters and I noticed something that was a bit off in this last one. Naruto does not have any seals on his stomach. Now if I recall correctly the seals that were placed on Naruto to control the Chakra of the Kyuubi always showed on his stomach. Although one of them was weakened or taken away, I don't remember exactly, in his training with J-Man. So what has happened to the others? I know that the key left behind for Naruto can unlock the final seal, reform the seal, or help him master and perfect the seal but where is said seal? Did Kishimoto just not draw them in this week? If someone could shed some light on this I would be very much appreciative.

I remember back in the first few arcs of the story that the seal only came up when he was trying to use the Kyuubi's chakra. So perhaps because he's using nature's energy he isn't using the slightest bit of the Kyuubi's chakra?

Or Kishi just forgot to draw it.

the seal only appears when he use chakra which he during this training he hasn't been using. remember back to when j-man asked him to mould chakra during the water walk training.

I was just reading chp 396 and im honestly baffled as to how kakashi knows about Amaterasu. I don't recall him ever seeing it or for that matter it being even remotely mentioned that he knew of the technique prior to this chapter so I have no understanding of how he knows about it especially by name. Anyone care to share an opinion on the matter?

Jiraiya probably told him. After all, Kakashi was the one guarding Naruto from Itachi / Akatsuki when Jiraiya wasn't around.

Besides, justsus like that have to be documented (in the Senju / Konoha archives). I mean, black flames you can't extinguish ! If those MS jutsus are the same (which seems to be the case according to the DB), the Senjus encountered it and the jutsus are notorious and I am sure Kakashi made research on the sharingan and later MS after watching Itachi's MS.

I would assume he was well versed in Konohas history especially since he was the first character portrayed to believe Madara was still alive around the time of the Kyuubi attack, yet he had no knowledge of the technique at all let alone the name. Kakashi just seemed to know it even by name. Whats your take on that?

The key in this is the time that passed between that day when Jiraiya stored black flames in the scroll and the day when Kakashi saw them burning.
You don't really suppose that Kakashi knew all about amaterasu and kept it from Jiraiya.
Why complicate? Jiraiya probably researched a little after his encounter and shared his findings with Kakashi.
It's also possible that the info was in that book that Kabuto gave to Konoha.

Kakashi probably became aware of Amaterasu's existance by reading the book Kabuto left behind. The book did contain detailed knowledge on everything Oro's organization had collected up to that point, which would include the abilities of the people listed within the book.
