I'm glad you got your SAL package so soon! ^^
My experience with SAL had been... rather horrible... but it's good to know that someone is able to get it in 9 days

    You're very welcome.

Yeah, I bought some volumes from Acclimate Solutions this week. Boku to Issho & a Hideo Yamamoto manga.

Re: Where to buy Japanese manga online

    Hi all,

I just wanted to say thanks for the advice. I'm in Australia and Japanese websites and preorders don't really worry me, but I do like a decent interface so I think I'll be giving bk1 a go.

I also want to point out there's another Japanese collectibles/ entertaiment store in the Southeastern Michigan area, its called Mirai and its located on 42705 Grand River Ave # B, Novi, MI‎ - (248) 374-3200‎
They used to have a website but it was taken down I believe, anyways this is where I go on a regular basis because they Sell Weekly Shonen Jump there. I even picked up issue 33 just the other day and that just came out last week! so they get in new merchandise very quickly.

Re: Where to buy Japanese manga online

Hi naruto+4s, moved your query to this thread.

If you are in US, you can try Yesasia and Sasuga Japanese Bookstore, Kinokuniya USA websites for online orders. More details as listed on the first post of this thread, which also has some small comparison notes which is useful

Re: Where to buy Japanese manga online

Well a lot of the anime and manga releases from Japan are exported all over the world. As far as raws not coming from Japan, weekly magazines like Shonen Jump are not only sold in Japan but are exported to other countries. How do I know this, well thats because there is an actuall brick and mortar store near where I live that sells the magazine.

Re: Where to buy Japanese manga online

ikcud: I got my shipment from bk1 last week and I'd have to say that I'm pretty happy:
    • Their range is quite extensive
    • I haven't had any problems with the website interface
    • I was very happy with the range of shipping options offered
    • The manga arrived fairly promptly (in the same post as an order of DS softs from Yesasia that I'd made the same day)
    • They were definitely well-packaged
    • They were reasonably priced

Barring anything unforeseen it's pretty certain that I'll be using them again.

Re: Where to buy Japanese manga online

Hi. This is very helpful. The only thing I need to know is if I buy some mangas from a Japanese store and they are sent to the US, how much would the US Customs charge me? Would I have to pay anything? I'm very confused about this. No one from the US on this thread has mentioned anything about it...

    Please help! Thanks!

For Canada, I just had the book prices and the shipping price AcclimateSolutions told me and that was it. No additional costs.

Re: Where to buy Japanese manga online

That kind of helps. I don't know if this is true or not, but someone told me that since the US and Japan have tense relationships when it comes to importing/exporting, the fees are high. Can anyone in the US tell me if they have to pay customs fines or something that isn't price of books + shipping?
