I think I figured it out, the queen of the exceed can see when a person is going to die. I think she saw that mistogun die and figured out that he was the one taking the magic away. She then went to tell the dragonslayers or his allies all together and Natsu put up this whole thing to make him the hero and himself the villian so that he would not die. I have a feeling that someone from Edoras will join Fairy tail to replace Mystogun. I also beleive that Pantherlily will become Mystoguns right hand man and Coco will jion Fairy Tail after become friends with them.

I never read rave, so that doesn't seem at all to be my problem. As for the body count it is just him and an flashback Lisana. Anyway, I am not even talking about people getting killed off. There just isn't much strife, or cruelty. Nothing really that makes you feel bad ever, I know it is a fictitious story, but at some point it needs to add some realism into the story to make it believable.

No, whether or not you've read Rave Master is immaterial to the problem you're encountering. Here, I'll rephrase.

Rave Master contained several of the elements you seem to be looking for in Fairy Tail. Mashima made a deliberate decision to tone down or avoid those elements in Fairy Tail. Thus at least some of the elements you are looking for are elements he's avoiding.

Though, thinking on it, I'm curious as to what you think the story needs in the way of realism. The main characters work for a living. Their primary goals are to pay for food and rent. Lucy has a long term goal of becoming an author, but no delusions as to what her current writing skill is. Natsu wants to find his father, but lacking leads he can follow, he lives his life to the fullest instead of searching around aimlessly.

That's a far cry from the somewhat more common save world/become great/the greatest at x goals as far as realism goes.

Then there's other stuff like damage inflicted during a mission coming out of their paychecks, Fairy Tail getting off with slaps on the wrist due to better power, prestige, and political connections, the authorities not being particularly lenient otherwise (Phantom Lord, Hoteye, Gerard) and so forth. Or being stuck administering proper punishment when they wish they didn't have to (Makarov exiling Luxus). Or people giving a rather skeptical look at the kid that says he was raised by a dragon.

Not much strife or cruelty in the Fairy Tail world?

Dark Guilds are such a problem that legal guilds have free license to smash them. No one bats an eye at three members of FT walking into a dark guild hideout, and beating everyone present within an inch of their lives. Having your town wiped off the map by a roving monster seems common enough that that aspect of Gray past was unworthy of remark by anyone.

That's strife, as for cruelty, keep in mind that most of the main characters have been working for a living since the start of puberty. Sure Fairy Tail was a pretty place to finish growing up. But they still had twelve year olds going out on jobs to pay their food and rent. No free rides for orphans. Then there's Wendy getting the requisite background trauma to join Fairy Tail as she's told her life for the past 7 years has been a lie, as everything she's known for the most recent half of her life vanishes. Then miscellaneous other stuff as well (congratulations expectant parents, we will be taking your egg, turning your unborn child into an assassin, and sending them off on a mission to another world that they likely won't succeed in, or return from.)

Granted most of this is stuff that's glossed over, or in the background, and your complaint could simply be that you wish it got the proper attention. Either way, I'm curious.

I have curtailed my posts on this board for the most part, there are times when I don't even post in the current chapter threads, or maybe just post once. I won't deny ever since this alternate dimension arc started my posts have been negative, I just haven't had much to get excited about. Really knocking on wood hoping the next arc is a huge step up though.

You nearly hit the nail on the head, and as per realism I wasn't talking about daily routines. I get that holding down a job and the others notes you listed are everyday illustrations. I really wont go into uber detail nitpicking each fault of an arc, but the problem it boils down to is the childish nature of this shounen. I wish he wouldn't direct the manga toward what I am assuming to be a pre-teen audience.

I'm guessing everyone except Mystogan gets sent back to earth using Anima. Making it look like they get banished to another dimension. Wonder if they are hinting at Panther Lily joining them.

Based on the ending I really would not be surprised if the Exceed all go to Earthland along with the Fairy Tail members who were transported by the Anima.

Good chapter, not the best but I was too quick to judge it based on the chinese raw. Natsu is pure win in this chapter and so is Gajeel

I think what will happen is maybe the Exceed will give Prince Gerard a hand in defeat Lord Dragneel and his subordinates but not kill them and instead come up with a way to send them back to Earthland.

I thought the chapter was fun, even if the development was expected to some extent. Who'd though gerard and lily would be so unwilling to go through with such a plan. Wonder what exactly is it that they planned though. Most likely a scenario was set so that natsu's and co death could be faked. I think lucy's virgo will come in at some point, it is the perfect escape route. I think FT will go home within the next two chapters, they will use whatever magic is left in the world to power up anima.

It was a good chapter. Not what I was expecting but I obviously don't hate it. Seems like neither Gerard or Lily will die but I am very curious at what the overall plan is because the black exceed seems to have a plan thats going to keep them from dying and to fake death in a more realistic manner I guess. I wonder if in the process they are going to return to Earthland as well. Maybe it will require being sucked into the anima right now???

Curiously, the role of petty villain fits Natsu quite well. I suppose we'll see an acted fight between him and Mystogan, but ultimately, Mystogan will win by sending them all back to Earthland, and he'll be recognized as Edoras' saviour, etc (Bye bye Fairy Tail).

Now, what could Lily's role in this new plan be... will he go to Earthland along the remaining members of FT, or will he stay and rule besides the new King?

Damn these Dragonslayer trio can be funny when they put their mind into it xD

In that minute Gerard and Lily spoke Nadi heard them, went to tell Natsu about it and the DS destroyed a few neighborhoods... they sure are fast...

Oh and next chapter is another climax of the Edoras arc, lol... how many is it now?
