I just watched episode 3. And the thing I have to say is...
From "Jump" to "Jack"?! WTF?!! It was Okay for the animation studio to adapt the manga from the magazine, but they can't use the name?!
Gintama and other Jump mangas were okay with using "Jump". Why not Bakuman?!
But yeah I wonder why they couldn't use the name "Jump" o.o After all they are already making references to all other manga that are from Jump and probably even those that aren't. Puzzling
I noticed that too however i didn't really care much about it, i just thought that they could have used a better name than "Jack"
but seriously, why would they even try to not advertise shonen jump?(or shonen jump forbits them to advertise for them) it would be a win-win situation for both partys.
If you watch the opening credits, you'll see that they themselves don't mention neither Shueisha or Weekly Jump, only Ohba and Obata.
That's pretty lame... Do you think it's an issue of $$$ rights?
Or maybe it's because Shueisha is NHK's competition or something...?
Even if they were competitors, it's still pretty lame because in the first place by making a Bakuman anime, they're increasing the public awareness and interest in Bakuman, pushing up its sales. Money goes to Shuueisha anyway, regardless of whether they credit Shuueisha/Jump in the credits or call Jump "Jump" :/
But yeah now I wonder what they're going to call Shuueisha when they meet Hattori for the first time... The manga names (Ashita no Joe, Dragon Ball etc) have been kept the same so far, but I wonder if the mangaka names will be changed too? o.o But I don't think so since the tankoubon in the first ep had the correct names for Toriyama-sensei and Oda-sensei...
In a certain moment in the first episode, there's a scene where many people are hanging around in a bookstore and there are many, many shelves full of nothing but Hikaru no Go and Death Note. You'd think they did that for the same reason they changed Jump's title, but Mashiro also mentioned in the same episode (or the second, not sure) they'd never be as popular as Naruto or One Piece.
Pretty contradictory. Maybe you can say names but not show those titles on screen? But if that is indeed the case, why change the magazine's title?

Yeah.... maybe they can only name things with an anime...? I have no clue here =S
Just watched episode 03, and it was great. I really liked.
This anime keeps getting better and better.
Ohh, Mashiro and Miho are so cute, they are totaly made for each other.
That last scene was so romantic.
Changing topic now, I think the reason behind the anime uses "Jack" instead of Jump is mainly legal issues.
I mean royalties, for each time the anime uses the word Jump they will have to pay Shueisha some amount of money, since Jump must be a registered mark.
This is the only reason that I can see now.
I never really understood the whole royalties thing. I'm pretty ignorant about the topic, but wouldn't companies benefit from the advertisement? It just doesn't make much sense for the Bakuman anime to show all these Shueisha manga series, yet not advertise the magazine they were/are serialized on.
Aight, that's not a bigdeal folks, even ohba/obata can't do about it.
Anyway, I watched episode 4. I love how JC staff added the scene of Kaya making fun of Ishizawa haha. But I don't like the wavelength scene, that's better if they split the screen of those 2 making eye contact at same time. Anyways, I still love watching it. It makes me read the manga again too. ^^
In the last chapter has even appeared a volume of Bleach with Ishida in the cover...but still Jack. It really sounds horrible
Episode 05 is out on NarutoSoul
