Just watched the last episode of season 2 and it ends when PCP's chapter 1 ranked first then they went to Nobuhiro's graveyard.

Season 3 was mentioned and they showed a preview of Nananime.

Hopefully season 3 will be better. I disliked how some funny quotes were omitted.

Finished watching season 2, it's always a blast to hear the characters talk. Also The anime helped me remembering many wonderful moments I totally forgot about.
I can hardly wait for season 3 !

Season 2's pacing was a hundred times better than season 1 though

Indeed, season 1's pacing was painful, and I couldn't watch it all.

Do you think that is why they split Bakuman into defined seasons with months of downtime in between, because it gives the manga time to offer more chapters per episode and thus keep the pacing from slipping up again? I mean, its not like Bakuman is the type of Manga that animators can throw fillers into, since its more of a cut and dry story that relies heavily on statistics, and you can't very well throw them in as you please without wrecking the anime's parallel structure to the manga. Well, at any rate, I hate fillers, and I'm happy that they are sticking to the plot, but that is very hard to do without screwing up the pacing; which is the basis for my downtime theory, as creating breaks between seasons is the only likely way to accomplish a filler-less anime with good pacing.

I don't really get the idea behind making a break between the 2nd and 3rd season. Even if Bakuman doesn't end in the next 5 chapters, there is still enough material for a 3rd and possibly even 4th season. Everyone pretty much agrees that Bakuman is about to end and IMHO it would be just stupid if the series would have ended and the anime still hasn't started because they are afraid of "catching up".

True, I guess there's more than enough chapters of Bakuman that they could end it now and not worry about catching up; I was merely trying to conceive reasons that one might break the series as they have.
