yeah you should definitely check tower of god. that'll be a good initiation to manhwa. Well One piece is basically what got me into manga. I was watching BDZ and Saint Seiya when i was a kid but that's it. But when i discovered one piece i was like damn that shit is dope. the first i was doing after school was to sit in front of tv and wait One piece.Quote:
oh Shingeki no Kyojin is nice. But i didn't read it since last years, so i'm not really up to date and i forgot a lot. i hate monthly manga so i always drop them and let the chapters stack up. Many people see Shingeki as a masterpiece to me it's good but it's not a masterpiece and it's a bit overrated. I was arguing with bene the other over that matter But i really forgot a lot, need to reread if i ever want to review it.Quote:
btw in the same style there is Ubel Blatt, Berserk, Zetman. i hope you read those.
Depend of what kind of place you're looking for? are you the typical tourist who goes around taking pics of everything and saying "sugoi" in front of every building. Or are you kind of tourist who just wanna have fun, meet new people, party?Quote:
heh im doing an internship as a web-developer. You?
lol. before mangahelper i was only posting on dance and rap forum. this is my first manga forum where i started to postQuote:
oh i don't know any of thoseQuote:
lol. You never want to move when you listen music? you never dance in room when you're alone or in front of the mirror?Quote:
Maybe your thread can help increase my post count.
I'm reading The Bride of a Water God, which is a shoujo so reading Tower of God will be an interesting step to see what other genres it has to offer.Quote:
It's adorable how passionate you were about ONE PIECE. Did you like it instantly or was there a specific arc that got you into it? Also, who is your favourite character?
I agree with you on the fact that Shingeki no Kyojin is good but not a masterpiece. It would be awesome to critique it together once you catch up/remember.Quote:
Is there a specific reason you dislike monthly manga? I know that a lot of people have a preference with weekly manga, but you're the first person I've encountred who actually hates reading monthly.
I love venturing into non-touristy places because popular attractions have too large of a crowd for my liking. I don't mind going to popular spots just to say I've been there, but I'm more of a tourist who enjoys going to secret places that only the locals know about.Quote:
My dream job a few years ago was to be a web developer/designer.The basic programming code is of course, HTML. I know you must use something a lot more advanced so which codes do you usually use?
Right now I'm a university student studying Anthropology and Modern European Studies. After graduation I hope to save up money to go to grad school, and I'll see where I go from there career wise.
Mangahelpers is great because the members come from all corners of the world. It's a very international community so if there will ever be a mascot change, I might suggest a globe. Don't know if that will pass though...Quote:
When I look back now, a lot of the early manga I read were mindless, cutesy shoujo. I wish more retro manga like Candy Candy were being published- especially when some of them have been influences for contemporary mangaka.Quote:
I listen to mostly rock/metal so I usually nod my head instead.Quote:
lol a meal without meat ain't a meal to meQuote:
you should definitely do that, spamming is funnyQuote:
oh i know that manhwa but i never read it. I have a bad opinion of shoujo.Quote:
oh yeah i forgot to answer that. well i don't have a favorite char, the strong point of One piece if the cast. No one is annoying, they're all awesome in their way and if one of the SH where to go missing something would feel wrong. But if i were to choose a favorite i would pick one pieceQuote:
As for how i discovered one piece, i still remember as if it was yesterday. I went to visit a friend and he was watching the TV. One piece starting, it was the first arc, the opening made me laugh already. Seeing that guy (sanji) using a powermove (breakdance) to kick his opponent made me laugh hard so i asked to my friend what was that anime. then the episode started, it was the part on Usopp island, you know Captain Kuro and the cat pirates. I used to draw a lot of skullhead before, so i found it really inspiring and funny when i saw the cat pirate flag and the straw hat flag. And the cream of the crop was Jango coming out of his cabin doing the moonwalk. As an Michael Jackson fan that was instant love with one piece. started to watch it everyday from that point
oh you want us to write a review together? that's definitely an ideaQuote:
heh the problem with monthly manga, the release are so slow that you forget what was going on whenever there is a new chapter. I'd rather catch up once every year than to read bit by bit every month. it's like eating and waiting 30mn between every bitQuote:
haha some popular tourist place worth being visited like the Seine or the Eiffel Tower around the trocadero esplanade et les Champs-Élysées but yeah i kinda agree with you. But unlike you i love crowned place xD generally when i visited a town the first i do is to locate the downtown and the nightclubs but if you ever plan visit Paris just lemme know beforeQuote:
oh trust me programming is not superb. if i could i would do something elseQuote:
Anthropology? you sure picked an uncommon thing i had to check google to see what was thatQuote:
its not boring?
a masco change i love the current masco, that's gonna be weird i thinkQuote:
heh u can like hiphop and metal at the same time One of my best friend is a bboy ( breakdancer) metalheadQuote:
you never go to nightclubs?
do you speak french? as for french canadian yeah it took me a while to get used to it. But the accent ain't really strong at montreal, it's when you meet people from the town around montreal that its really awkward. Also had to learn some expression like "ostie de tabarnak"
The Straw Hats are all well developed as characters, and I love the way they interact and work with each other- they're like family! Yeah, it would definitely feel weird if one of them was missing. They're just so perfect.Quote:
That's a really nice story, and it's awesome how you still remember the discovery to this day. ONE PIECE is an entertaining manga first and foremost so it's not a surprise that all these seemingly wacky things caught your attention. How long did it take for you to catch up with the manga/anime?Quote:
You're a MJ fan too?! I was pleasantly surprised when he was referenced in OP.
It would be a neat collaboration! Even if we don't agree with how something is graded, it's helpful to have two different perspectives; that way, it will be more objective.Quote:
I like the eating analogy. Would you read a monthly manga that was already completed? You won't have to wait for a chapter because it's already up.Quote:
Ooh, I'll definitely let you know beforehand if I go to Paris. It might not be for a long time since I heard that it's a pretty expensive city. (>_<)Quote:
When I went to Venice in 2011, it was packed with tourists! It was insane.
At least programming is something that's in demand right now. What else would you do if you had a chance?Quote:
Anthropology is not boring, but it's tough. There are a lot of theories that scholars such as Foucault think of, and it takes a while to fully understand it. However, I do love the fact that it can be applied to any field: social anthropology, cultural anthropology, forensic anthropology, linguistic anthropology, visual anthropology, etc.Quote:
The mascot has been around for a long time, and now that I think about it, I guess it will be weird if it does change. :/Quote:
Believe it or not, I do like some of Die Antwoord's songs (Wat Kyk Jy and Baby on Fire). Which hip hop artists do you listen to?Quote:
I want to go to a nightclub at least once in my lifetime! Unfortunately I live in a suburb near Vancouver that has no form of nightlife.
Je peux comprendre français un peu. I really wish my province's education system emphasized learning French more because even though I can understand French, I'm terrible with speaking. You're free to chat with me in French if you want to btw.Quote:
Yeah, I'd imagine the rural areas to be quite different from cities.
So, let's get married.
Would I have to move to New Jersey if I do?
Hai. My first post here in weeks, if not months.
let's get married.
gtfo with that post, don't ruin my mojo.
