About the Volume: The story's progressing a bit slow but I still enjoyed it. There were some awesome shots as well, like Hideo hiding behind the tree. And we finally got a name for the infection: ASPD sounds fitting but I can't believe that the government is thinking about a name instead of rushing in the infected areas and save those who can be saved (but I guess Hideo hallucinating is now entirely impossible)

I really like the idea of them being not completely mindless. The man just wanting to see the picture of his family(?) was kind of touching Didn't see that coming, I was sure he would attack the girl. Still the infected are getting more and more creepy... and damn fast, being able to catch those two guys in a driving car
I hope Volume 5 and 6 won't take that long to be scanlated, can't wait to see what happens next.

Shawn of the Dead is the only thing I can think off hand that used the concept of zombie's retaining a side of their humanity even after changing. While there may be more it just doesn't come to mind atm lol. Overall though the story is getting interesting I'm curious to see how it ends. It would be nice if it didn't end in tragedy with him but most zombie stories end in tragedy lol.

You haven't seen a lot of zombie movies have you? Dawn of the Dead (1978) and every subsequent Remero zombie movie features this. The Return of the Living Dead series features zombies retaining former personalities as well, and even the more obscure titles cover it. Not to take credit away from this manga, it's excelent.

oh man, im truly like this kind of manga, true horror, realistic, beautiful art, and slow paced
and the main protagonist kinda have unique personality, like have imaginary friend.

the best in this manga is not much talking, it's like im watching slideshow of art
it's remind me of Nihei Tsutomu-sensei work (Biomega and Blame)

i just hope english scanlation do more speed update ^.^

*aah sorry for my bad english

I almost forgot completely about this manga until yesterday. It's a shame there aren't any recent scans. Is it because the group doesn't have time or are there a shortage of volume scans?

It is because it was a joint project, one of the groups did not want to do the manga anymore and so Gantz_Waitingroom were left alone, thought they say the raws have been out a long time, perhaps they just lost interest in it or motivation after the other group quit.

Don't be impatient about something you're getting for free, with no strings attached.

You can always read Hanazawa's other manga in the meantime: Boys on the Run is a great manga and currently being scanlated. There is a movie too, supposedly pretty good. I have not read it yet but there is also Ressentiment, already fully scanlated. I am a Hero is a great manga, I can understand a bit of impatience. Hanazawa is a great mangaka, while your waiting for the next volume try his other manga.

Re: I Am a Hero by HANAZAWA Kengo

Been reading volume 5 and it was worth the wait. I love it when the artist will have the same scene over a few pages with subtle changes like he did for the group scene in this volume. It's very cinematic. This is one time where I'm glad I am reading a manga online instead of a book because not seeing the next page and just pressing the arrow key makes it play like a flip book with these type of scenes.

EDIT: I just finished the volume. It was great as expected. I missed this manga.
    Spoiler show

One thing though. I thought the second half of the volume with all the 2ch conversations was pretty tedious to read.

Re: I Am a Hero by HANAZAWA Kengo

Indeed the double spreads of this volume were really awesome. Like you said it makes a really powerful impression. I made the 7 differences game quite a few time :-). If you have a way to read the manga in vertical mode, I strongly recommend it.
OK I have to remember to cut my nails next time I read it :-)
