Is anyone else LOVING Julia Stiles?? I think her situation was handled nicely. It would be nice to see her as a romantic interest for Dex, but somehow I still think she's going to end up dead. It was good to see Dex own Matsuda at the crime scene too. lol He was in and out like BAM!
But oh noes! Are the brothers gonna come after Deb now?? She did see one of them.
He was kind of hot too, so that was a bonus.
While I didn't particularly enjoy episode 1 and 2 as much as "normal" Dexter episodes, episoide 3 and 4 kind of made me get the old "Dex feeling" back. We're back to business, no single dad crap or mourning. Rita is finally written out of the story, aswell as her kids.
Despite that, episode 4 left me with a love/hate reaction. The hate probably came from Dexter's obvious softness and stupidity, I can't believe what he's doing lately. Harry spelled it out perfectly in this episode, first Dex killed a guy with no prep time in a "public" bathroom, then does a sloppy kill of Boyd, and now he helped a dying witness survive, who judging by the preview will only screw up even more for him. Generally I don't like how parts of the story is going. I love how Debra and Batista's respective situations are being portrayed, and I absolutely love how Quinn is involving himself in the Trinity investigation and "figuring" out Dex. I did expect for Trinity's son to back up Dexter and say "no, never seen him" when Quinn was asking him about Dex being Kyle Butler, but I guess my predictions can't always be right in Dexter!
As for the next episode, I'm both excited and not excited. I'm not really looking forward to the mess Dexter is creating for himself in an awkward manner, but at the same time I can't wait to see him get out of this mud (like always!).
That's the thing about Dexter though, they make him out to have been "made" into what he is, not a born psycho, and the whole thing about him showing compassion to the girl reinforces this. That's the difference between Dexter and Trinity. Trinity didn't "love" his family, he abused them and used them as cover, while Dexter also uses his family for cover, he actually cares about them. If he was truly irredeemably psychotic, he wouldn't care at all. What I really liked, was Dexter's off handed answer to Harry asking him what the first rule was. He said, never kill and innocent, when over and over and over throughout the series we hear him repeatedly state that it is "Don't get caught."
I also thought it was clever how he explained himself to Lumen, that a serial killer killed his wife and all that. It slyly deceives her into thinking that's the real reason why he's killing. I also think that she's a really good plot device for Dex to find more people in need for being murdered, since he's "off work" right now and all.
Just got to watching the episode today. Since I don't get showtime I have to watch it online but I also wait till Wednesday because I'm off from school so I get to watch it with my dad.
At first Lumen was really annoying the crap out of me but I have to admit she's making things interesting. Quinn as always annoys me, but again his complications are making things interesting.
All along I had a feeling that the Internal Affairs would be for Maria and not Angel. Like the issue at hand would become her sleeping around and that would in hand have an effect on what she got done and how she got to where she is now.
In regards to Santa Muerta stuff I'm very suspicious of the cop, the Spanish female one (who I have no idea what her name is) that brought up Santa Muerta to Deb in the first place at the scene of the first beheading. For some reason she knows to much and she pushed Santa Muerta without the investigation even being fully off the bat. Now she's fully involved in this case and she has had a hand in the investigation the whole time and something about her weaseling her way into all of this is bothering me. She's hiding something IMO but I don't know what yet.
So i just got done watching the 5th season of Dexter and might i say it was pretty good i think in the 6th season is when Dex will unload his secret onto Deb i think shes getting pretty ready
Now this is my kind of thread
I was told to follow Dexter for some time and after Heroes' cancellation and growing tired of True Blood, I figured it was time to pick up another ongoing series. I had Seasons 1 and 2 boxsets sitting around for a while and finally decided to give the series a shot late November 2010. I ran through the first season during Thanksgiving weekend and got around to catching up with the series entirely by January 2011.
What drew/draws me into the series is the fact that we're not dealing with superpowers. Strange, considering I'm posting this on MangaHelpers but the realism of the story is definitely a drawing point for me. That and the vigilante/Batman feel of Dexter's character keeps it fresh, IMO.
I have no clue as to which direction the next season is going, but I feel that Lumen's character was too convenient. She was simply there to help Dexter's character cope and move on after Rita.
I can only guess that the next season will once again be about Dexter working solo against a new threat. But that seems a little formulaic. Another reoccurring theme is Dexter trying to avoid getting caught by the authorities by luck alone. I'd rather Dexter be the mastermind behind a plan that him simply being a player in it.
Dexter is a great TV series and Dexter Morgan easily one of my favourite protagonist for a series. My favourite season was the first, the other seasons are pretty good for the most part. The weakest seasons to me were season 2 and season 3.
The last season was pretty decent, looking forward to the next. I hope they wrap it up soon before it turns to crap. I can understand their reluctance though, it is by far their strongest series.
i really didn't like season 4, dexter doesn't need feelings!! season 2 was pretty good aside from all the drug meetings he went to. I loved him getting all of his affairs in order
Did anyone watch the season finale of season 6 yet? All I can say is "OMG, YES!!!"
