The Search for Straw Hat's New Nakama... - 2nd edition

There are 2 reasons why I love one piece

1) Epic dramas
2) Next nakama prediction

So if any of this two is remove in the plot I will stop reading One Piece. Now what I want to discuss about is the next nakama thing. Since the start of Luffy's voyage, Oda choose his nakamas based on their roles in the ship. I mean, he think of a missing role in the ship and add it with random characters he can think of. They're abilities doesn't have any connection with their specialty except for Nami, Usopp and Franky. Oda thinks what is a cool and funny creature that would fit this role then just add him with the straw hats which makes them weird and so random. What I want to say is Oda doesn't follow any kind of patterns for the next nakama like everyone use to do. Ex. boy girl boy boy/ weapon paramecia fishman logia / etc.

So best way to predict the next nakama? Find a missing role then find the character that will fit perfectly in that job. Forget about their abilities and just focus on what they can do in a straw hat crew. Just like Zoro said, everyone of them has their own strengths and weaknesses. They just need to do what they need to do.

Now if somehow Oda made the next nakama a character without any role but just an added strength for the crew, this could mean that all the roles for the straw hats are already fulfilled and we must expect for fewer new nakamas maybe at least 2.

So guys can you still think of any missing roles in the crew and who can assuredly fill them? I want some discussions

look at this picture...............not only this one oda has drawn a few cover pages with samurai on them. also look at zoro's left arm, its almost the same design as the left sleve on the samurai torso. look at the head in the bottom left hand corner, it looks just like the samurai.

i think oda has had him in mind since way back then and he is silly enough to join the strawhats, plus luffy is ignoring why he cut those guys up, and luffy know none of his crewmans bacstory, just how he was aleep when jinbe told his story.

i think the samurai is a mythical zoan fruit user and he wil be the next member and jinbe will be the last. i bet his son is nont actually a person, but something that reminds him of his son who passed and just cant deal with the grief.


i think the samurai's fruit power is perfect.....im sure it has other uses but its not to hax to join the strawhats.

Well, the guy could fulfill the role of a magician lol. He does seem to have a kid though, I doubt he would leave him to become a pirate.

Maybe his kid died and that is his sad story. His kid wanted to go to One Piece, so He will carry his ashes there. Just saying, I don't know. Would add the drama needed, the dream that needs to be done in order to accompany Luffy and the fatherly feeling of protecting Luffy as his bodyguard. Then you have everything to become a new nakama.
BTW; great pic chess.You're actually right, it does resembles a lot to the Samurai.

Also, hasn't anyone found strange the lack of box introduction of the Samurai?

Mone would be nice IMO but still we don't know too much about her so i'll limit myself for now till we get a better glimpse at her personality and if she is indeed a DF user or an experiment of CC

very diverse crew...it would be really cool to see a real samurai, a fishman, a shandian, a viking and a former marine in the crew...makes it much more varied.

for some reason, i dont see a need for an okama (sanji), dwarf (chopper), vampire (brook, robin) , ninja (zoro) , giant (chopper, franky) , long arm (luffy) , another zoan (chopper) or a flying nakama (sanji).

Yeaaaa, but zoro is more of a samurai than ninja and i realy think thats wrong way of clasiffication..

woul really like to see character that use wrestling moves... maybe dwarf giant...... contradicting... i know

Personally, I'd want a Logia user to join the crew considering there's already three parmecians and a zoan. Unfortunately, there aren't that many elements left that Oda hasn't used, except for wind, or unless Oda has the new Mera Mera No Mi user join. As for a former marine, I'm afraid the only one we know about is Aokiji.

Yeah a new nakama with a wind type of DF would be awesome or i personally would like a nakama with a crystal type of DF , something like how Jozu has and it has to be a female ..

Well, yet another crystal user would be a tad redundant lol. It'd be a more fragile version of jozu which is not quite interesting to say the least. How about a carbon carbon fruit in that case? Basically someone who is able to manipulate carbon around him (not within him though). He would not transform into crystal however a diamond armor would still be possible. Maybe other still hypothetical uses of carbon would be fun to see too (say, poisoning people with carbon monoxide or CO2, ultra hard strings and other stuff science suggest possible).

im not predicting...but it would be cool if the strawhats have a shandian (a funny one that uses dials--especially reject) and a viking (oda loves vikings) on the crew....plus an ex-marine.

a rubberman, former pirate hunter, former thief, a cowardice liar, a perverted pirate apprentice, a monster, a former enemy,a cyborg and a skeleton. doesnt get any diverse than that.

a guy from the sky (shandian) a guy from the ocean (fishman) a guy who is an ancient type of pirate (viking) and a guy on justice side (ex-marine) would complete the diversity.

not to mention kinemon of firefox , a guy stucked with old traditions and came from a secluded island.

its better than filling the ship with monsters because chopper already IS a monster.
