I don't know how anyone can miss them having "short" names, but you have to remember that they have long names too, like Lorenor Zorro or Nico Robin. I don't think Oda would restrict himself to those rules/conditions. We've got a past discussion about numbers appearing in the DF names of the mugiwaras, I wouldn't like him being limited to the last two numbers out of 0-9 for creating a new DF user member.

Would you believe that your question is easily answered by using the search function? Of course he was and still is the topic of the New Nakama talk here and in the chapter discussions. I don't see a reason to reopen that topic, unless you've got something new to add to it. Going in cycles will always make these discussions look bad.

edit: Seems like he's not being sarcastic. @EddyBob15: No problem. Here is what I think about it.

Smokers aim is to beat and capture the Mugiwaras for good, winning or losing a fight isn't as crucial as getting his main objective done, putting Luffy into prison for being a pirate, not becoming buddies with the Mugiwaras, which he appraised for their deeds in the past. Tashigi lost in the past, Smoker solution was to get stronger to win next time, so how should it be a option to change sides? Those two are full blood marines, even if they don't follow the official guidlines all the time, their aim is those of the Navy, to take down pirates.

I see a parallel to the "crew breaking" topic in the other thread. Why build their characters so much, let them go through grievances and train in hell for two years, just to let them disband and joing another party? Hell no Imo. It would be out of character for those two, unless they are directly confronted with the abuses of the upper echelon, giving them a reason to react compassionate.

Why are those two needed for the diversity? Do they also need an official RA member, a princess that goes with them for once? Their personalities stand for certain real world countries, with Franky occupying USA and Zoro Japan, what would Smoker or Tashigi represent? They are missing the most important factor of the Mugiwaras, a DREAM achieved by sailing through the Grandline! If Smokers dream is shattered in a defeat, than joining Luffy on his journey will definitely not be on his to-do list.

off topic....but anyone noticed that ALL STRAWHATS only got 2 syllables in their names except brook?....i know its likely just cause so the name would be easy to memorize...but im just thinking, it could be a hint....see: jin-be

Too bad this isn't the case with the original Japanese... Only when you look at the Romanization is this the case.

And it was Na-ru-to, before he became San-ji, so that pattern wasn't planed from the beginning. Also they are often called by their full names: Nico Robin, Tony Tony Chopper, Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro. But that's not enough to falsify your theory, so it's up to Oda to suprise us with his decision and makes things clear.

You don't have to repeat that everytime someone mentions Smoker or whoever we chose to support as the next nakama. I'm saying that comments without new arguments are just a repetition of the aforesaid and doesn't further/extend the discussion. EddyBob15 's on page 90 so I doubt that he has ignored your latest statements.

While a lot of us are positive that Jinbe will be joining eventually, I'm betting that the final member will be a logia user. Seeing as how the crew's got three paramecia and a zoan, it seems logical to have all three types. I'm thinking it'll either be a wind or water user.

On the subject of when Jinbe joins, I believe that he will be the helmsman. He did an excellent job of steering that marine ship to Marineford and put that together with Nami's sense of weather and the Straw Hats should have very little trouble getting through the New World.

if jinbe would join i doubt he would be the helmsman....he would be something close to a marine unit or i mean the one whose role is connected to being underwater like salvager or something...or infiltrator underwater...

Oh guys stop, that topic[helmsman] was discussed to death already. I'm not trying to hinder a discussion, but those that read it the last time will know that it will be futile, if opinions are made up already.

If he joins he will of course be of great use in the water, but that's not a job in a crew, is it?

Shabrack should just get use to the fact that internet forums get in circles. I don't know why he is always complaining given his experience here. Not everyone needs to be a celebrity member or wants to read 100 pages before joining the discussion

As for the name discussion even if japanese has syllabic alphabet, it does not mean that one character = one syllab, especially with katakana. But I guess Oda used name which are easy to remember and those tend to be short names

I understand the thing about going in circles for a reason that it is established that Jinbei may eventually end up joining the crew and as far as I remember.. there were comment in "for" as well as"against" him being helmsmen ... there was another idea posted by someone.. sea diver for the crew,,,,

Anyways ... apart from jinbei... I vote for Monet , if only she turns out to be a DF user and not a result of Law's ability

As for Monet,I support her joining the crew. I was against Jimbe,Shirahoshi and random characters like that chick from Amazon Lily joining the crew,but for some reason,I'm perfectly fine with Monet.Though that's based on the design only so far.

well, i apologize if i became redundant or bringing up old things...i never read the previous comments before i joined the discussion (as in waaaaay back comments) and i just want to share opinions and ideas to this forum...is it a bad thing??? as for my theories, i think its pretty obvious i always bring it up because its my claim...and i always stand by my theories...if this forum is too strict with things like that, where's the fun in joining a forum like this??? again im sorry...i will try to limit my posts from now on.
