Is "A Game of Thrones," (First Book) the best book in the series or are the following books better than the first?

A Storm of Swords is highly regarded as the best book (the third book). I dare say after that it's the second based on the fan votes I've seen, but after that it's very varied. In fact it's highly subjective which books you prefer. Some of it has to do with the different plots. Then there's factors like whom your favorite characters are, what they do in the different books, and whether those characters have POV chapters in those books or not etc etc. So many factors. Personally my list is probably 3 > 2/5 > 1/4, and this list doesn't really mean there's a significant quality difference from my personal perspective. I do find the writing improved in e.g. 5 over 1, but the plots are different, the characters are different blablabla. All five have so far been very good IMO.

I did read an explanation for that. The major theory around the NW being AA covers everything, but I don't remember the details. Got to look for it.
Here's a cool theory on AA.
Could the reincarnation of Azor Ahai be....Thoros of Myr???
Could Lightbringer be Jon Snow?
Azor tempered his blade thrice until he created lightbringer. Rather than the any literal interpretation of a tempered sword, what if Lightbringer was a person? Thoros has resurrected two people(one via proxy) thus far. The third person to receive this kiss may well be 'Lightbringer'.
According to the story of Azor Ahai:
First sword was tempered in water. As they found Catelyn Stark's body by the river, Berric was 'tempered' and gave his life for Catelyn with the kiss of life.
Second sword was tempered in a lion. With Lady Stoneheart leading the charge, Thoros has lost heart. His 'sword' is not effective enough in his fight against the darkness. A lion is on its way into a trap in the Riverlands....
Third sword was tempered in the heart of a woman.
Anyways if you take the hints from the books, especially from Aemon, then Lightbringer is Dany IMO, but I don't think Azor Ahai is her....Azor Ahai is the one using Lightbringer, so it might as well end up being Tyrion...
It's impossible to speculate on AA, but I do know the end of Jon's story in the last book took him from being a possibility, to him being a probability. At least in the eyes of most fans.
But the flames aren't wrong, her interpretations are. On that chapter she asks to see AA, thinking about Stannis, but the flames show her Jon. She doesn`t understand it, as in her mind Stannis is AA.
At this point I'll be really surprised if Jon isn't AA.
