    Question Differences in Translations

Seeing as there are two translations out there each week, maybe you're wondering why they are different. Well here you can ask about lines that you want to know more about . I'll happily explain the reason for my translation, and welcome Hisshou to join in as well .

While we're at it, Shocwave's translations were pretty bad, so if there is a part / chapter / page or something that you'd want looked over again, feel free to post that up too

If you're wondering what are different (seeing as you might have just read one scanlation so don't know, you can see here:

    Njt gantz translations
    http://mangahelpers.com/forums/forum...adprefix=Gantz

    Hisshou gantz translations
    http://mangahelpers.com/forums/forum...adprefix=Gantz

    Or the week's latest translations:
    http://mangahelpers.com/forums/forum...adprefix=Gantz

    Anyway~ let the questions begin

    == EDIT==

Just remember to post the chapter, page, and panel (easier for me to find that way ) (or get me to translate the entire page, that works too )

    Re: Differences in Translations

I recently started reading Gantz and got caught up in 2 days so as a recent convert, I just HAD to read the latest translations because I really wanted to know what's happening. And so I read both versions and here are the differences that I noticed. Please explain the differences. ^_^ I will of course post njt's first (for the Japanese) and then the corresponding line(s) from Hisshou's version. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to write down the page number. Anyway, onward to the differences for chapter 283~

    human, too?!

    Nishi: Yeah...
    they just might be.
The important part of this translation comes before and after.
Cherry's still thinking about gantz being created, so he says
    あれも
    人間か?
    which can be interpreted as
    Are they humans too?
But there are a few reasons why it's not.
    1) Previous statement. (Humans made gantz)
    2) Follow up statement. (He comments that it's hard to believe humans can make aliens yet)
    3) The も which is used as "Also" which even strengthens the above points.
    so~ the
    あれも
人間(に作られた)か is "Are they made by humans too?

Also, he doesn't say "huh" he says あれは which is asking "what about that"
And another thing, Katou uses 使って not 作って, use versus make. The stress is why would someone need to USE something like that to even justify the making of it.

    あれ・・・あれお前 どーゆうつもりで・・・
the どーゆうつもりで means "Why, for what reason"(trying to see why Nishi would be telling them that, maybe to scare them? Kurono doesn't know)

Nishi is just answering him. Telling him there's no *reason* どーゆうつもりも何も (the も何も makes it take negative form)

Ok, so since I was bored and instead of doing what I should be doing, I thought I'd compare TLs for chapter 282, for those that are interested.....
