Sure the plot does seem a bit contrived.. I'm dreadfully scared of Caribou hanging around a second longer than necessary..

Otherwise this chapter seems to resolve one set of issues and lead to another.. Perfect for this seemingly expanding arc.. (I dare not call it a mini arc any longer..)

Van der Decken could very well be davy jones. According to wiki that is:

I am a super fan of One Piece, so if I don't like a chapter, I just don't comment.

I agree that the pace is slow, like snail on turtle back slow, but i find the humor of the slow chapters enjoyable, almost as much as the action in fast paced chapters

Well what makes OP so good is the fact that Oda takes his time with everything. And he doesn't just BS his way through things to just get right to the fighting. In which case some people would then say "Ohh the plot could be better if it was developed a bit more". Point being is that chapters like these build up towards those extremely climactic chapters that come later on. People may not have liked the last chapter but Oda reveled to us the new techniques of some of the SH's. So every chapter has a few things that will definitely be utilized later on. And thats why OP isn't like some of those other mangas that can remain unnamed.

And i really like Oda referencing to The Flying Dutchman and possibly even Davy Jones.

Yay ... de vliegende hollander ... I also like this kind of reference. The chapter seems interesting . Manga with references to the dutch culture, that's unusual . I remember Samurai Champloo using the dutch culture.

What's with all the "ADHD generation" complaining?
"Too slow!", "not enough fighting!", "boring!"... Oh jeez. So if they don't fight 10 dragons while riding on rainbow colored unicorns and commanding an army of devoted followers every chapter it "sucks" and you're "disappointed".
Why don't you just sit on your asses and I don't know... chill out? And enjoy the story as it goes instead of constantly expecting Oda to deliver multiple fan-gasms every time new chapter is out?
FFS, I can barely believe how impatient and hotheaded some of you are. And it's not just this week - every week it's the same.
You act like some sort of a psycho fans, screaming their lungs out at their god and then foaming at the mouth when what is being delivered deviates just a little bit from what YOU (the only true source of that what and how everyting should be) think.

What do I think about the spoiler? I'm totally fine with it. As long as the chapter keeps me entertained for 15 minutes it takes me to read it, I couldn't care less if all it contains is the inner monologue of Luffy's left testicle.
And up to now One Piece has proven to be the only shounen manga in print I got my eyes upon to give me those "15 minutes of fun" (I couldn't get even through 1 chapter of most of the others).

The spoilers are promising. I understand why people may argue about pace and plot development, but you should take in account that we had the same paceing in such arcs as Skypea and Thriller Bark. It' not like big panels with nothing in chapter. Oda uses the opportunity to show not only Fishman Island, but also provide information of its surroundings, backstories, show parallels between One Piece and real world. Also he shows new abilities of the crew.
I think that it's really promissing to see Flying Dutchman. It's for sure one of the most famous stories and symbols of the sea and piracy.
Also it would be interesting to see that giant.

I'd say it would be a good chapter, especially with Oda's realisation.

P.S. It's like practically every week people speak about pacing and little information and plot development in the chapter, but in the end when the chapter comes out the just say that it's damn great. So we should just wait for the chapter.

I'm imagining The crew arriving at fishman island with a kraken and a ghost ship. The face of the fishmen seing that should be hilarious.

Even if the Flying dutch is a nice reference I don't see how it can get into the plot easily. Either it ends rapidly and then the slow pace is strange either it's connected to Fishman island next event but i wonder how ( they are no big villains or crewmate candidate)

I was hoping to see at least some basic actions from Usopp, Nami and Brook, but nevertheless, the chapter seems fine to me.

I think it's a nature of the crew. They always want to find some adventures and so they always get in some troubles.
But you know also they may have taken the most fearsome route, that's why the get into troubles. May be Supernovas chosen other routes.

Who are you referring to? Just curious, since I don't think you read through the posts. Some ppl are asking for a plot, not for fights already. Read the damn posts before u try to sound cool. Bitching about bitching doesn't make u sound smart.

Just for the record, I had fun reading last weeks chapter, as it had some SH interaction which we missed for like two years and some character development on some of the SHs. I know I shouldn't be early to judge, especially since the chapter isn't even out yet, but it seems this week we might have none of those. I believe after 5 weeks it is about time for Oda to give us sth about the plot. We had a break and there are more breaks yet to come. So I think it is understandable why some ppl are wishing for more.

Anyway about the plot, hopefully the Dutchman fulfils my needs. As I predicted it to be the main villain.
