Yeah, I'll keep going with it, but if I'm still not feeling it halfway through the novel, I think I'll have to drop it. It's a really long series and there are so many things I want to read that I could put it off until later. At this point I'm kind of having to force myself to get through it, but am open to the idea that might change.

I had mango margarita. Tasted awesome, but was $12. I thought it was cheaper.

Ever had pineapple? Wanna try that now.

No, it definitely changes. I think you're around Jon III and that's so early in the story, even when only talking about the first book. I would say you should read the entirety of the first book, but books are books...they're not really going anywhere.

There is the chance that maybe it's not your kind of story I guess. I would find that odd though

    OMG! That sounds so good, mango. *_* I've never had one of those. But holy hell! Twelve dollars?? XD;;

I'm not a huge fan of pineapple unless it's the fruit itself (ie not flavoring), but that might be good too. As long as it tastes legit.

I just don't like any of the characters yet I guess. I'm still at that point where I don't really care what happens to them, which is typically a sign of my not liking a book. I think the characters are the most driving force for me. We'll see. :/

I confess I have or think I have very little to be proud of myself for. Only thing I can boast is how nice and polite I am. And how well I can drive. Apart from that, dunno what else I'm good or useful for or what I can be proud of.

Years ago, I could have been proud of getting good grades, being studious, etc. Now, just dunno what.

I confess I actually don't care about this though. X_x

Really? ...that could still change, there's a lot more to happen and learn about them. The characters are a selling-point of the series. You don't even like Arya?

That's cocktails anywhere...they put a whole bunch of shit in them and give them fancy names and charge more. Unless they're rail drinks of course.

    Then why bring it up?

Why boast about anything? Just be yourself. "Driving well"...not sure what sort of personal value that has to be honest, and I never understood your obsession with that.

Be proud of what you have and can accomplish, the right people will recognize that when it's important......driving isn't one of them

Want something that I can personally feel proud of.

Driving good is a good value for me cuz like, I can drive like a crazy nigga without getting into accidents. For fun, really. REMEMBER, GARY? Still can't believe you preferred the calm ride back home. D:

Don't care of people recognize it though. Fuck others, most only see what they want, never what's actually there.

    Fancy names ftl.

What you feel personally proud of has usually been recognized by someone else. When that isn't the case you usually end up being proud of stupid things...like say, driving

    Re: The MangaHelpers Confessional Thread

That's the thing. They've been divorced since I was twelve. It's been eight years and they hate each other even more as time goes on. It's easy to forget about it and care less when I don't get caught up in the middle of it. I just can't wrap my brain around that kind of bitterness. My parents are good people right up until they so much as email each other. I can feel the tension seething when they're in the same room as each other.

I don't understand why it can't just be like my sister's wedding night where they were civil and even kind to each other. And people wonder why I basically burst out crying when they could just look at each other and smile for two seconds. That seems so absurd when I think about it. No wonder my views on marriage are so. fucked. up.

No, I wanna feel proud of it myself. I wouldn't be proud of being smart even if others were, and this is actually true story.

And driving isn't a stupid thing to be proud of. -_-

    That works. Somewhat.

I can kind of relate. My parents are nowhere near as bad as your parents, but they can argue horribly where my dad is loud and insults and curses at my mom, then I have to deal with her crying. Remembered experiencing this as early as 4-5, it blows.

But at least you don't have to deal with your parents bein together constantly. Hope they stop hating each other like that.

That's not absurd. Completely understandable considering what you've seen from your parents. You desire to see them get along, and when they do, it's a great moment.

    Re: The MangaHelpers Confessional Thread

Parents are the most important things in most people's lives. That's usually why they're so responsible for how we turn out.

I confess that I take my parents still being together for granted. It's something that's always been and there was never a time where it would have been any different. It's not perfect, but it still works.

I confess that sometimes this results in me being naive. And sometimes I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, to be honest.

No, I meant something others saw in yourself. Sometimes those things aren't clear until they're pointed out by others.

What are you, Steve McQueen? Of course it's stupid, unless you're doing something other than commuting, where it's your job and duty. Driving from point A to point B without being killed or arrested, it's common sense.

    Re: The MangaHelpers Confessional Thread

You won't understand, you're le noob.

Why would I care about what others see in me? People want to see what they want, and if they don't see it, they'll ignore or abandon.

It's a bad thing to take for naive, to be honest. At least for your relationship. If your parents are together, you should try to find out how they pull it off so you can try to do the similar thing with your relationship. This day and age, it's a pretty good thing if parents stay together and not get divorced.

Ironically, people complain and say marriages are holy, but they're not anti-divorce like they are against homosexual marriage. If marriage was holy, there wouldn't be as many divorces.

    Re: The MangaHelpers Confessional Thread

Sometimes people have a hard time recognizing how they're perceive by others. Your thoughts about yourself and your outward projection isn't always the same. This is what people mean when they say someone is misunderstood. I'm just saying that just because you can't find something to be proud of yourself doesn't mean no one else can. Someone can point something out, doesn't mean you'll accept it. It's still there though.

There can't be marriage without divorce IMO, but I can admire people who work at something and fix it. It seems people were able to do that more often back in the day. The whole "We come from a time when something was broke, you fixed it. You didn't just buy a new one"-school of thought. But that doesn't seem to happen much anymore.

I don't think I need to find out necessarily, it's something that is just unspoken and understood. In my head it's just the way marriage should be. Not really on my mind though, so my capability is sort of irrelevant right now. Anything else just always seemed alien and taboo to me growing up. I have a greater understanding of it now though even though I might not be able to relate to the situation personally. I know my dad has been tempted throughout the years, and I'm sure my mom was too...it just clicked and worked. It's not all about love though, it's convenience and beneficial to be married. If it was just that though they would be miserable with each other and would probably look outside of marriage for fulfillment. They haven't done that because they love each other.
