According to a quick google search the Baku part of Bakuman means:
    Quote Quote:
Takeshi Obata-sensei tells that "Baku" is from
    - Bakuhatsu(bomb)
    - Bakuchi(gambling)
    and Baku(monster which eat drams)
Now most of these things actually have to do with Bakuman's storyline, but I believe that it's a double play of words, and that when Shujin and Saiko come up with a mainstream enough, yet playing to Shujin's strengths of writing deeper stories, manga that they'll name it Bakuman (with it possible being the main character's name kind of like Naruto).

    What do you guys think?

That's a pretty interesting theory A "Bakuman" manga within "Bakuman" itself.

But who knows, there is no real need for them to call their manga Bakuman, although it would be cool (for us readers). We already know the meaning behind why the name Bakuman was chosen, as you have listed. Numerous other manga have seemingly random names that have no apparent link to the story - look at Bleach, for example.

Since the early chapters and saw numerous people predicting that..

Kinda fishy in the latest chapter. They already handed out their romance one-shot to Hattori without even slightly telling it's title. Could it be?

Nah, it's just the translators being lazy. All the romance one-shots titles were fully visible this chapter, just that he/she didn't translate them I don't remember the page number or anything, but it was the page when Saikou/Shuujin opened the magazine Hattori gave them...

The title of Ashirogi's manga is "Sayaka na Toki" which is actually a double entendre on its own. Literally it translates to "Fresh/Bright/Refreshing Times", but it was mentioned that the female protagonist is named Sayaka, so it also could be translated to "Times with/of Sayaka"

That's not saying they couldn't change the title if or when they get serialised with it, though...

Am I the only one who thinks this would be a cheap thrill, especially if the romance is a complete retelling of the story. (Question if Bakuman is written in Bakuman, is that Bakuman going to have characters writing another Bakuman?)

That would be hilarious hahaha. Think we'll get Shujin saying "I'm going to present my own views on the manga world as the views of the characters"?

    Conclusion:

This world where we are reading Bakuman is just another manga in another higher world. We are all parts of a manga.

I don't think they will win the romance contest but in the end it might be kinda funny if their manga turned anime was about creating a manga. But there was something like that in this weeks shout out about a guy creating a 4 panel manga about a guy creating a 4 panel manga. (Ore wa Mata Shuuchan de Rensai Dekirunoka? )
And at the start of volume 2 , Takeshi Obata wrote
"The title of this manga is Bakuman. It means bakuhatsu (explosion), bakuchi (gamble) and baku (an animal that supposedly eats dreams)...
It has many means to it and I think its a very fun title."
