I was listening to a french radio program about the 1001 nights and I learned something I was not aware of : Aladdin and Alibabba were not part of the sheherazade tales initialy. They have been added up by a French guy when it was translated for the first time. Isn't that funny that they have become the most famous one afterwards and even become the heroes of our favorite manga :-)

I love how Sinbad's taunt at Ja'far got used against him. Getting old is his kryptonite!

I've posted the links before, but other than those sources I really don't know. Tumblr is a very good source to be honest, the Magi fandom is extremely active. They even translate fancomics, and one of them is even taking on the process of translating Ohtaka's websunday blog into English.

It is pretty funny, if you think about it. But at the same time that doesn't discredit them either. Aladdin, Alibaba and the 40 Thieves, even Sinbad the Sailor were all existing folktales from the Middle East, they just weren't part of the 1001 Nights. Of course, the person who put them into 1001 Nights when they were translating it did us a big favor by preserving the stories to begin with. And the Arabs I know wouldn't be able to tell the difference, really.

I really like how even though there are bits and pieces from the 1001 Nights in Magi, its not an overwhelming reference that we can use to predict what will happen next. Though I think its pretty cool how all the Djinn are based off of an actual 17th century book about demons. Thanks, Mr. Arashi. <3

I wonder what it could be? The most obvious thing that comes to mind is maybe an actual mini-series on Sinbad. But I think that might be confusing in the long run, for new readers especially. Unless the anime plans on adopting the manga volume on Sinbad into an OVA or a special episode. If that's the case then I want the Crime Against Kougyoku Arc animated kthnx

I think it'll be a movie. Or maybe a reprinting of the whole series in kanzenbon form, with color pages! I mean, we already know we're getting character songs from the voice actors, so it can't be that, right?

After Sinbad's Story, next is about Amon's Sword, then a "secret" project!! Gosh, Magi is starting to bloom! It would be nice if it's a movie

Amon no Ken, what could it be? Something about the story of Djinns? or Amon and Alibaba's love life? Which ever it is, I do hope this is real!

Now that I finished...Do you think that Titus will join the Aladdin team? It would be nice, since all the other kings have prominent figures around them. A magician as him would be cool.

I don't think so. He's an extension of Sheherezade therefore she can vanish him anytime. I think it's going to serve purpose that we will see the limits of her about the people she govern and his personality under stress, whether save one among a lot or prefer to save a lot but killing only one or a few, just putting an example.

Every king has their household and usually it's not only one person. I would like that the "Alibaba Team" have a strong wizard in their side. Aside of the Magi, lol.
