Sorry Oku, I just don't see the influence of those works since they all had original plots and Gantz is, after all, just yet another "Every-Modern-Manga-Ever", which is to say:
Normal Japanese is sucked into some sort of magical world which exists inside Tokyo BUT is conveniently invisible to normal people and inside which he/she is given technology/magic/powers by some organization in order to collect the McGuffin objects du jour while adhering to the inane rules of the world (the Japanese seem to be unable to picture a world without rules and structure).
(I guess I'm being too harsh though)

I'm still surprised he can draw realistic faces as shown in Gantz no Moto.
Nice finds about the statue from Buddhist mission and Dinoalien hunt, guys.
Hiroya Oku need to bring back the girls like the last page one, loved it when he put it in between gantz chapters!!! SOME ONE contact him and tell him WE WANT GIRLS BACK!!! lol
The third chapter is out but no sign of chapter 2!
Thanks, i didn't notice it was scanned.
If you're not going to get an extra page of content anyway (which you wouldn't), why would it hurt?
I think it's a cool addition even if I'm only going to see it for half a second before I move on. I would rather see it on covers or whatever than in the actual story. There's nothing wrong with it being on the cover because it's all meaningless. It's amusing to watch Oku sexualise women every chance he gets. It's so over the top.
It's way cooler when Oku shows hardsuits in color than having girls with big boobs. I guess he was not in the mood back in the early days (before the Osaka mission showed that suit can be further improved) of making Gantz and resorted to what make something that's easy for him to make. I don't know where exactly I've read it, but I think it was in a Gantz chapter that he told a story about how the people noticed the breast-movement in his drawing more than the actual story (I think it was Hen, his first manga).

^ Don't worry, you don't missed much. The raw is 3 page "long", two pages with pictures about Robocop, on the third page some text.

^ Thanks! Right, I thought I was going to see something as good as chapter 1. At least, my curiosity about it won't bug me.
