yeah, other french music really suck. french R&B is the worst lol. thought it's been a while i didn't listen french hiphop. It's getting worst every year. trying to imitate rap US they lost what was making french rap unique, not even talking about auto-tune abuse and the complete lack of flow. only few like sexion are the exception

Re: Here comes the spam :derp

the main difference between french rap and US rap. was the lyrics, us rap mostly talk about money and bitches, french rap was close to poetry. lyrics were really deep, lot of punchlines, stuff about the government, the hidden reality of the ghetto etc.... you could listen to one song and see all the reality of your life in it. they used to work a lot on the lyrics. for example there is a rapper Rohff, in his first album he made a whole song using only one rhyme and actually the song made sense. Now they just rap shit, wanna be like US rappers. So i'd rather listen real US rap with a good flow than some retarded imitation

Sorry, but if you think all rap here is about money and bitches then you don't know rap here

Not saying there isn't plenty like that, but your description of French rap is similar to many here, popular or not

The commerical and mainstream scene of US rap/hiphop obviously focus more on "bitches and money" but a lot of hip hop over there still talk about real issues with the old school feel to it. They just don't get much attention through television and radio but tbh that's not a big problem in the US. Look at Tech N9ne for example. Dude is a legend for what his been able to achieve with out the "machine" behind him.

Machine being a major record label, exposure though tele, radio, etc for god knows how many years now.

I haven't really listened to french music lately but I'm sure there are some good artists and gems to discover over there. You just have to been searching. ;P

haha trust me when i tell you french rap is dead, that mean it's really dead. i've been a real french rap junkie, i was listening to every new shit. for example sexion d'assaut i knew them like 2 years before they release their first album. They were fucking hardcore back in the days.
some are still trying to act gangsta and all, but yeah their lyrics are fucking whack. they just say stuff like "fuck the police, we are real, come test me, blablabla".

Not even talking about him really

I don't know them that well but there are many kinds of hip hip, neo soul, trip hop, etc.

Just saying that your generalizations aren't entirely true and what you described in French hip hop exists here as well.
