Re: Weekly Shonen Jump treasure contest

Well.. Our first post here.. ^^

I would like to introduce the persons behind Mangatellers. We are two independant screenplay writers for manga and comics. We have two long scaled series right now in screenplay form and some concept art.

Currently we are co-operating with an artist and illustrator and we have completed a 45 page oneshot manga story in order to enter different competitions.

On March 17th, 2011 we sent the one - shot to the Editorial Department of Shueisha Inc, in order to participate in the monthly contest of “JUMP Treasure New Artist Prize” of the Wekkly Shonen Jump Magazine which takes place in March.

Following the requirements of the contest, unfortunately we can’t reveal anything from our one - shot until May, when the results are announced. The text of our story is in English and the sound effects in Japanese, in order for our one - shot to look more like a traditional manga. The reason why we didn’t make all our work in Japanese is that it was complicated and quite expensive either so we couldn’t afford it. We hope that our use of the English language will not be a problem to our participation in this contest.

The contest’s deadline is on March 31st, 2011. According to the Post Office, our work will arrive to the proper destination on March 27th, 2011. It remains to be seen whether the contest will actually take place due to the fact that Japan and Tokyo especially face problems, because of the earthquakes , the tsunami and the Radiation.

Of course our least worry is the contest right now. We wish for Japan’s state and citizen’s living conditions to get better as fast as possible.

How do you know if you have been admitted to the contest?Or if you won anything?

Did they send some confirmation that they received your entry to the contest?
    An email at least?

If they don't bother to notify people in any way, is there someone who can buy jump? I believe results are published, right?

Apparently they contact people after the results have been announced. (which is usually 1-2 months after the deadline)

There's no one stopping you from sending pages to them, but you'll have to send in a physical copy of your comic, since there is no way to contact Shueisha via e-mail.

The Tezuka Award is currently open for submissions, as you can see on this page.
I don't know if they accept digitally drawn manga. (Though I don't see why not)

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump treasure contest

I just noticed this on Shounen Jump site.

There is a small Twitter window of Sasaki Hisashi (The editor in chief of Weekly SHONENJUMP.) at right side of the site.

"As for submission to our manga prize from overseas, we do accept them, but sorry, only in Japanese for now." He says.

Ah,okay,I know what you mean now.Well, good question.I can't give you a good answer, since i never published anything either, but you could always send both versions. And now that you mention it,do they expect everything handwritten or do they want the text digitally?
