Claymore 112- A Reason To Fight, And A Proper Path

Well hello everyone. It's time for this month's Claymore review. And hey, since it's February, we won't have as long a wait for the next chapter! But first let's see what the results of last month's poll are. Apparently one of you is bloodthirsty, and wanted the Ghosts to kill Anastasia's group. Three felt that they should be immobilized for the time being Four felt the Ghosts best choice would be to just let them go. Seven decided the best option was to try and recruit them like they did Dietrich. And seven feel that Anastasia's hair is not as nice as Galatea's.
This Is A Curb stomp.
We open with Cynthia healing Phina while Yuma keeps watch. While Keira want's Yuma to go help Anastasia and Nike, Yuma knows they don't need it. Between them, Deneve, Helen, and Tabitha are making diced awakened. Nike can't believe how strong they are, but Ana knows better. It's not their strength, it's that they have experience, both fighting awakened, and fighting as a team. And the newest member soon gets a chance to save them, as Dietrich makes her entrance. Ana wants to know who the ghosts are. Dietrich doesn't give a straight explanation, but talks about how they should have just avoided this, and gone straight after the organization. And that when asked the Ghosts will deny that they were helping, and claim they just killed the Awakened for being in their way. About how they are not enemies or allies, but still face danger for the sake of Ana's group. Anastasia calls them what they are- Friends, and joins in.
Well, unsurprisingly Deneve's group decides to pull Anastasia's group out of the fire. As we see , the AB's are really no threat to the ghosts. As Yuma put's it, she can't even bring herself to be worried! Dietrich sorta does introductions. Seems Ana knows Dee, too. And points out that the ghosts are Dee's friends. Seems that Ana is someone who places a high value on having friends, and she also seems pretty happy for Dietrich for having found some. We also see signs of Dee being integrated into the ghosts maneuvers already, as at one point Tabitha launches her up in the air so she can use her technique on an AB.
Yuma Shall Not Pass-
However Deneve doesn't manage to kill the last AB, and it takes off to where the wounded are. And with Cynthia healing the injured, and Keira being in a state of, well uselessness, it's up to Yuma. So what does she do? Borrow some swords, toss one to take off the legs, and then finish it off before it hits the ground, while dodging an attack. Yeah, Yuma's improved since the north. Now if only she'd realize it. Anyways, Deneve and all them head over, Helen is pleased to see Yuma took out the AB, and Anastasia's team are all happy their all alive. When Anastasia thanks the Ghosts, Deneve says exactly what Dietrich predicts, much to Nike's amusement.
Heh, again we see that Yuma is a fair bit stronger than she gives herself credit for. Give her a good supply of swords, and she could be a real killing machine. Or maybe a boomerang. Yeah, a giant bladed boomerang would work perfectly. We also see that in a short amount of time, Dee sure has learned how the ghosts act. But now with the immediate threat removed, what will happen between the ghosts and Anastasia's team?
Gratitude and Choice-
The question is though, just where did these male Awakened Beings come from? Deneve seems to have an idea. She has Tabitha search for a specific sort of Yoki, a sorta proto-yoki. And Tabitha finds it. As Deneve explains, it harkens back to when several of the ghosts first met. The six armed AB. The organization is still making male awakened. You can't call them Claymores, as they have no training. They are sent out to attack troublesome places, and then the Organization can collect the money from hunting them. Of course Nike starts wondering about who the ghosts are, and just what they want. Anastasia however, has already figured it out. And having seen what remains of Pieta Ana isn't exactly happy with how the Org treats it's troops. But she needs to know what the ghosts will do when confronted by those warriors still loyal to the Organization? Deneve states they will fight them and cut them down. But out of respect for Miria's wishes they will not kill them. And with those words, Ana decides to aid the ghosts, even though the Organization might mark her for death. But now they have a choice to make. Will they head directly to the Organizations headquarters, or will the destroy the facility that makes Abs? And it is to Tabitha that the choice descends...
And with this, something I've long suspected has been confirmed. The organization is still making male hybrids. I've suspected as much for a long time, due to the way the numbers work out. With the sheer amount of Male Awakened we've seen killed, it just seems like their must be more than 47 running around. Anastasia also decides to aid the ghosts, as repayment for them saving her team. It seems that she honors her debt's much like Jean. What's also interesting is her comments about not liking how the Org treats it's warriors after seeing Pieta. Honestly I think that even if she hadn't decided to aid the ghosts, the Org would have tried to eliminate Ana. She's starting to get suspicious. Simple observation over time would show ways in witch the Org acts badly. Let's take their actions regarding Pieta. Yest they can claim that the Claymore's that died their did so because the situation was worse than expected. Or that it was a necessary sacrifice. But normally when a group of troops are wiped out, some attempt is made to honor them. A memorial is put up, a plaque, something. The Organization doesn't do that. They do not honor their dead, or their sacrifices, and that is very odd. And so Deneve has just managed to get some new recruits. Honestly, she's doing much better at the long term planning for her assault on the Org than Miria did, as she's subverting the still loyal Claymores. Now Deneve gave the choice of heading straight to the Org, or destroying the AB manufacturing facility to Tabitha. I imagine she did this because out of all of them Tabitha is the most concerned about Miria. However when the next batch of AB's is done, where do you think the Organization is going to send them? Somehow, I doubt they've given up on destroying Rabona.
Winner of the Month-
Hmmn, a bit tricky this month. But I think I'll give this to Deneve. She's not just stepping up as a squad leader, she's proving able to recruit other Claymores to her side. Clever Deneve, Clever.

You're reviews are insightful as always. I hadn't considered what you mentioned in regards to Anastasia. The Organization sent her to Alfonse and then recalled her shortly afterwards. It can not be a concidence that on her way back, she encounters a force of ABs superior in numbers. With only Nike as the only other fighting potention, she would would have surely perished without the Ghosts' assistance.

We'll see in the next chapter if Yagi makes light of this situation or if he pens it as mere coincidence. There's a lot of thought to Yagi's plot development's so I'll be surprised if he choses the latter. She openly expresses her disgust with the Organization's tactical maneuvers at Pieta, which needlessly caused the death of almost twenty warriors.

It seems that the MIBs are quite perceptive at weeding out those who do not fully fall in line with the Organization. It may also revolve around Rimulto's statement in regards to a warrior's usefull time. "Those that live a moderate life are best." Anastasia, having served at least seven years, may have grown too wise and inquisitive for the Organization's liking. Recall what Renee/Lune said as well. "Ranks are being replenished quickly and on a regular basis." Could this be by design and premeditation?

my ch 112 comments:

1. Nike and Anastasia knows Dietrich

2. Anastasia saw either the Pieta Battle or the aftermath of it

3. Yuma is still not confident in her abilities, against an AB sololy, but she killed it with ease (albiet it was missing its arm already)

4. Deneve probably intentionally didn't kill the AB, so Yuma would, hehe.

5. Yuma is 4/4 or 3/3 with her sword throwing, lol.

6. so, these are just normal male ABs, and nothing special (not Infected Hosts nor AFs) as some of us speculated about.

7. we learn that the Org indeed still makes male ABs, and uses them as "suicidal sappers", so they never get trained as Claymores, as they still do Awaken immediately. And that the "spiderman" ("purifier") male AB was merely referencing this, and Miria suspected it as well.

Also, this would match up with Rubel saying orphaned boys to the north (the mountains in northern Sutare, which also has a path to the Org HQs in eastern Sutare, where Deneve+Anastia groups are) and orphaned girls to the east (Org HQs, which was once Staff city - city of the far east, in eastern Sutare).

Sutare is the eastern land on the island.

8. we learn that there's indeed a "lab" nearby making these male ABs. Is this Dae's "lab/house" or just a "lab" for making male ABs.

9. interesting that Tabatha can sense "pre-yoki" male Human-Yoma... wonders if this could be used on the Black Coats... if it would sense anything or not...

10. Dietrich seems to have trouble with admitting she has friends or with the very concept of friends, lol.

11. I guess Deneve isn't going to kill Org Claymores because it's Miria's wish... otherwise she would... hehe.

12. Tabatha provides a boost or a stepping "palm platform" for Dietrich to do her "Jump Sword", lol.

Tabatha+Dietrich (Tabatha probably to sense the battle as backup as/where needed, which conveniently allows her to also help Dietrich with her "Jump Sword")

Cynthia+Yuma (of course stay together, being the "Healers" as Phina needs Regeneration. In this case, Cynthia does the Regeneration, and Yuma has guard duty for the 3 of them; Cynthia, Kiera, and Phina).

15. Keira is UGLY and a Crybaby! she looks like a (male) friar/monk! argh, another "masculine-looking" female Claymore, lol.

16. Cynthia too smiling smugly, forces Yuma to take on the male AB by herself, and then Helen congradulates Yuma. The Ghosts are trying to help Yuma with her confidence, lol.

17. Yuma throws one of the 2 Org Claymore's (Keira's or Phina's) swords and slices it's legs in half, and then with the other sword she kills it normally (melee style).

18. Yuma tells us that Deneve+Helen are extremely powerful, being able to kill all these male ABs on their own without any help. the power difference is laughable, Deneve+Helen are that powerful, especially to these weaker (and first time Awakening) male ABs.

19. did these male ABs escape?, or were they intentionally allowed to attack and to kill/purge Anatastia's group?

20. seems Tabitha gets to make the decision on how to proceed, as she cares most about Miria, so will she choose to attack the Org HQs or investigate this Org "lab" nearby ?

and I messed up my poll vote argh... I voted too quickly without thinking and without seeing the otehr option, lol.

I wasn't totally sure that male ABs were still being made, but I certainly was suspicious of it as I'm very suspicious of all the "truths" the Org (and especially Rubel as I still maintain my belief in him being the real-true LEADER of the Org hehe) spouts, and the possibility certainly exists of them still making male ABs, as we already been hinted at it, through many sources/references already in the manga (too lazy to try to list them now and here, lol), and now finally ch 112 confirms it at last, hehe.

The number we've seen hadn't gone over 47 yet, true, but it was still enough to be suspicious. It seems improbable that even assuming all the male first generation awakened, that so many would still be running around. AB's don't always play well with each other, and their would have been at least some that got killed by Claymores. And I may be wrong, but it seems like we see far more male AB's over the course of the series, than we do female ABs. So while not sure, It did seem suspicious.

one explanation I have thought up for this:

Alphonse (the northern land) is a snowy harsh environment, so it's more desolate of people then the rest of the island, so the Org/Claymores don't really care too much about it and don't have that big of a presence there (they're not killing ABs "left and right" in Alphonse), especially as they do in Luatrec (nearly the entire manga is Luatrec, the western land, lol).

This would show that Isley and the male ABs with him, were smart to "claim" Alphonse as their land. This more "lax" snowy land in terms of Claymore activity, is what enabled 33+ Awakeneds to continue to live there for so long (as well as the snow/blizzards itself, as rank 7 Eva and her team, Lucia, Kate, and unknown, found out fatally, just prior to the Pieta Battle).

And then let's look now at Luatrec (the western land):

Poor Riful had nearly no Awakeneds left in Luatrec (no thanks to all the Claymore activity there killing them off) to "recruit" against Isley's 32 Awakened army. And so she had to thus then MAKE Awakeneds, by capturing Claymores and using torture to force them to become Awakeneds. (FAILING MISSERABLY, she didn't get a single Awakened "recruited", EPIC FAIL RIFUL, LOL )

we do now know verifiably (by ch 112) that the Org has indeed NOT stopped making male Claymores/ABs on the island. (the failed Rabona Razing attempt and the Razing of Dietrich's town, and then possibly with NYs we got the "NY nest" town possibly being Razed as well, where the 4 Teresa Executioners gathered and "conveniently, eh?.. cleaned up the evidence by slaughtering all the NYs", before then embarking on the Teresa execution hunt. this then revitalizes about Teresa knowing about this... using Yomas to force the towns to pay them, and then if they don't pay, they use the Yomas to raze the towns... and still continuing to do "her job" of slaying Yomas, despite knowing all this... but this is an entire discussion/debate in itself to explore, lol)

however, as of yet, we don't know if these "suicidal sapper shock trooper" male BEAST ("mindless") ABs (used for razing towns that don't pay or whatever reason the Org has) are capable of controlling themselves and behaving like intelligent and sentient humans, and if they can, whether it takes time for them to get back control of themselves (and this question applies to all Awakeneds, not just these ones).

So, for now, we have to assume that Isley's 30 ABs and that "purifier"(purger)/"spiderman" male AB and the 4 ABs that set up an ambush for Nina and her team, are from Isley's Era, as they're all in control of themselves and act just like intelligent sentient Humans, and not the ch 112 (and failed Rabona Razing attempt) BEAST ("mindless") male ABs.

We also have to allow/consider that Isley's Era of male ABs (which includes "purifier"/"spiderman" AB and the 4 ABs that ambushed Nina and her team) are different from these "ch 112" male ABs, because it seems that they had to have been Claymores (as where'd they learn their combat knowledge, their control over their bodies and their yoki, and with Isley his swordsmanship, and most of all their great/high Power Levels), which then contradicts that they "immediately Awakened" like these "ch 112" and "weak/low Power Level" male ABs did/do and as the Org/Rubel said that all male Awakeneds (Isley's Era's male ABs) immediately Awakened (just like how the Org/Rubel said the Org stopped making male ABs... uh huh... we know now how "truthful" this is/was...)

(unless massive amounts of them have been killed by Claymores... or they were killed before they got to Awaken into Awakeneds is possible too...)

***(seems to match up, if Clarice's Era ends, which it seems to be, as the Org is fully transitioning into "monsters", Normal AFs/Priscilla Arm 3 Super AFs/"Clare Clones" using rank 1 Claymores' flesh, and not Claymores anymore, and with the coming battle royal between the Org and its Claymores and the rebel Claymores and Ghosts)

-it's also possible that Isley's Era and Riful's Era are the same Era (both Isley's male ABs and Riful's female ABs, if there were any...hmm, could have existed at the same time with each other. An Era of BOTH male and female Claymores... as Riful+Dauf+Rigardo+Isley+Gaheh all seemed to know each other... maybe they were all Claymores and together at the same time at the Org... I mean when did Isley, Rigardo, and Dauf develop their rivalry? and how does Riful and Gaheh, another male AB - the one that Dauf "burped" killed, know about it/them?)

I think the twins Alicia/Beth were able to live that long is because they hardly show any affection. Only to one another and that was it. Even as it look, I think the Organization was already in a process to replace them with the new little twins.

Do you guys also notice that the BC or Organization are like Claymore too. They hardly grow old, which tells you they are not normal human themselves. Pretty much they may be Awaken Being like Isley/Riful who still have their conscious. Not like Priscilla, she a total nut. But what is weird is that the Claymore do not detect Yoma presence inside them. Well, they could be like Priscilla who can hide her Yoki.

So many question, I guess we'll just wait for the upcoming chapter to reveal them.
