What will be the next manga they'll draw?!

im sure chapter 119 of Bakuman gives a hint... somehow...

My guess is that they'll make a manga about mangakas too.. and the action is where the new mangaka who is cheating will be defeated by their manga... which is also the manga they made is about mangaka making a manga about mangakas whos making manga about mangakas..

kinda repeated and confusing but you'll surely understand my point

Hmm, that's a pretty interesting theory. There was someone who suggested that Ashirogi might even make a manga called "Bakuman" within the Bakumanverse, and I guess your theory is somewhat similar.

This would be pretty interesting if it happened, but I kinda hope it doesn't... Somehow I think I would prefer them to come up with something really radical and different...

Wow thats a mouth full. How would it be morally ambiguous though? Well I see the "cheating" manga as being but wouldn't that be to close to what is really happening? Don't want to be the ones who told on Nanamine.

Hmmm...I can't help think of the seven deadly sins for morally ambiguous manga. I always like "darker" style manga. Already did Greed (Money and intelligence). Can't do lust (not shounen), Gluttony (boring more to mangas then that), or sloth (same as gluttony). After this chapter I think Pride would be a good one to go off of. Or maybe the seven deadly sins as an actual manga. *shrugs* don't really got a clue. Death Note was morally ambiguous.

I don't think that idea would work because a manga like that wouldn't be popular. It would be way too didactic to work. It would be the opposite of morally ambiguous which I think is of huge import for series. (as opposed to serious humor which strikes me as something one can talk about theoretically, but never actually pull off)

Unless you are channeling the first part of Milton's Paradise Lost where Lucifer is a VERY appealing/humanized character, sin is not morally ambiguous.

That isn't morally ambiguous per se, except in the sense that you are somewhat rooting for the character who is unabashedly doing evil. Which, incidentally, might be the direction to go, and I don't mean One Piece pirates who actually do good, or Robin Hood outlaw stealing from the rich and giving to the needy. I mean an appealing bad guy doing evil for the sake of evil. Think Shakespeare's Richard III (until he becomes king, then the play becomes awful).

That sounds so interesting. I only thought of the seven deadly sins because of money and intelligence. Hmmmm. An evil guy who has all the seven deadly sins. He loves money, status, and power he gets it by evil ways. He is still some how very appealing.

    Death Note was awesome.

It would be funny if they actually made a manga about manga, and then they decide to called it Bakuman lollllll, but yeah it would fit with their style and would be popular too (Bakuman in real life is popular so...)

I hope they go with a perverted manga. A ecchi manga in Shonen Jump? Revolutionary!

Re: What will be the next manga they'll draw?!

Depending on the degree of ecchi you're talking about, ecchi manga are nothing new to Shounen Jump. There are some ecchi series in the current Jump line-up, Medaka Box and Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa being the first to come to my mind. They're not hardcore ecchi - and in the first place I don't think Jump allows it since its readership is younger than say Jump SQ - but yeah.

Personally, I'd prefer they don't go the ecchi route. Fanservice of that nature is kinda cheap imo though of course there are also ecchi manga that actually have a plot.

It seems pretty likely that they will stick to that "mainstream yet non-mainstream battle" that they've been talking about for a while, with some minor changes/tweaks.

Series currently running in Weekly Shōnen Jump and their level of echiness.

    Gray - I don't read the seris
Red - has not or a very small amount of ecchi in it
Green - has ecchi in it

    Spoiler show

As you can see from the 12 manga's that I read 8 already a certain degree of ecchi in them. And note that atm there aren't any manga's like I''s or Ichigo 100% running in WSJ, in which ecchi plays a MAJOR part, so ecchi itself is nothing new and definetly not enough to get you a place between the mangaka's of Jump.

Personally, I stick with the people who say, that they'll create a Death Note 2.0
