Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

    What is the ToC ranking?
ToC stands for Table of Contents. It's found on the last page of every issue of WSJ, but more importantly, the order the series appear in on the ToC is closely related to the popularity of the series. This is determined by polling the readers; there is a polling postcard in every issue of WSJ.

    Some exceptions etc:
    - For the 2nd-8th chapters, TOC is already decided, though it could change depends on readers' ranking.
    - The TOC is affected by the popularity of 8 chapter ago.
    - Shueisha's aiming their main target as elementary and junior high school students, thus, their votes weigh probably more than others (fangirls).

*Sigh* I guess World Trigger's first couple of rankings were too good to be true. Well I guess to be fair it hasn't sunk into the bottom 5 yet, but seeing it in the lower half of the TOC already is worrying...though I was kind of expecting it flop anyway so I shouldn't be surprised if that ends up happening. What the heck is Gintama of all things doing in the bottom 5 though? That's pretty weird...

Ok, Sket, Gintama, and Beelzebub are going to have it tough if they keep on being below Edison

It's not really weird, Gintama ranks have been low for more than half a year now

---------- Post added at 11:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 AM ----------

And Sket Dance is in its ending phase so it doesn't really matter how it ranks now.

So if Kiruko san ends this issue we can assume your new series info from last time have high chance to be true now.

hmm, I'm kinda sad yet relieved to see it finally ending as it seemed like it was dragging itself out simply for the sake of dragging itself out at this point,

    I'm really gonna miss it tho, especially since it means there'll never be a season 3 for the anime..... ;-;

Are you saying that just because they are in last year of highschool? Or are there other signs indicating possible end?
'Cause, you know, their last year of highschool can last a really good amount of chapters.

It seems it have dropped a lot but it didn't actually, it's in 8th place, 1 place lower than last time. Only One piece, AssClass, Soma, Kuroko, Hq, Nisekoi, Saiki and Toriko ranked better. Additionally there are 3 Colors before it (Bleach + 2 oneshot) + Kochikame Lead CP. So imo its still doing pretty well, can't really say if its a success or not though.

No it is based on more serious facts which I don't really want to spoil more. There are in the last sket dance thread posts if you don't care.

Please no one-liners! Try to express your sadness/frustration at Medaka ending a little more coherently to add to the discussion.

I'm really happy with the way Medaka is ending. Tthe past month and a half has been its "ending" arc, really. And that's great because it feels so much more natural this way. You will be missed, crazy troll manga Medaka Box! And I will miss Medaka. She's one of the few female Jump protagonists, and she was very unique to me.

Whenever I see Beelzebub as bottom 6th, with a more established series cushioning it I always giggle.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

I like the fact that medaka is ending, because the series couldn't deliver much anymore. I thought that the arc before was stretched and unnecessary and that the last one was to short. I would have liked if anything happened instead of only showing their faces.

I see the ending as a new opportunity for him to return with a more exciting story, because the beginning left medaka in a bad direction and made it to late for it to recover.

seeing that hj could end in a short time, but probably not in the next chapter. I heard that cross manage could be closed at any time. maybe its the next one followed by hj, or they do the same with enigma. publishing the last chapters in different magazines and end it straight after medaka.
