The scary part is that there was a less powerful earthquake some days ago. There is still a strong possibility that an even more powerful aftershock will hit. :/
I'm very grateful that I live where I do. I can't even imagine what it must be like to live near the Pacific Ocean...
I hope everyone in japan is ok, but man knowing the fact that so many people die, make it so hard for me to go out and have a normal day. I pray that the people of japan can recover and that no more disater will happen there
8.9? That's really terrible, at least it wasn't too close to the mainland otherwise all of Japan would be in ruins right now. Japan is still pretty devastated, very scary considering Japan has very strict building plans for buildings to make them as earthquake-proof as possible
it'll be weeks before we get to know the extent of the damage, this is as bad as the tsunami in 2004...
That are really shocking news. According to german news it was the 5th strongest earthquake in the world that have been measured. I just hope that the casualties caused directly by the Earthquake and the Tsunami are very low. I can't image what is the aftermath for the whole country.
Now there is now the problem with the nuclear power plant that can't be cooled down. I would gladly give away 1 year of SJ for the safety and that there will be no more catastrophes in japan.
last report i hear today say, in the north of japan, they got a problem with a nuclear powerhouse. Some buliding in the near area was burning. I hope there is no real nuclear porblem. Like former post say it was the 5 strongest earthquake in the history of recording. The pictures they go around the world are horrible. When u see people flee from the tsunami.
At least there is some really mistaken. Of my own understanding it must calles an seequake. Cause it was outside of japan, miles in fron of the coast. But that is only by the Side.
My Hope for go outside whoi stand in the middle of this chaos.
I send my condolences to the Japanese affected. I know what it's like to be in the middle of an earthquake, though thankfully it was nowhere as near as powerful as this one. I sincerely hope they don't have to deal with any more aftershocks.
I still hadn't seen any videos until a moment ago... things were pretty bad
But Japan is probably the most prepared country when it comes to earthquakes so it wasn't as bad as it could be in other countries. Still pretty sad since not everyone can survive.
My cousin and her family were damn lucky that they came home for some vacation.

This article shows lots of pictures on Japan during earthquake.
The nuclear powerplant Fukushima is a severe threat right now.
Cooling systems failed after the earthquake, and the level of cooling water sinks. So far technicians were unable to restore power supply for the cooling system as both main and emergency power supply collapsed. In power plant block one it is now planned to release radioactive gases to lower core pressure, which rose to 1,5x the amount for which the core was designed for.
I'm sure that japanese technicians will still have enough options to make sure that no meltdown will happen, but right now the situation is officially risky and could lead to one. The remaining decay heat is 7% of the power plant capacity, so it is really huge even with the reactor not running anymore. With all electric systems beeing unfunctional, there is an actual risk.
The power plant has six blocks and is one of the biggest nuclear power plants worldwide. Three of these six blocks lost all their energy systems and were flooded to maintain cooling. The World Nuclear Association said the situation was under control, but they themselves only rely on informations from the power plant operator and thus are considered not very reliable.
A kinda weird note: There are three to four emergency power supply vehicles at the nuclear plant, which however cannot be used right now - because a cable is missing. Now a cable is beeing transported to the plant via airplane...
Estimations say that the situation at the plant will become critical after approximately five to six hours after the full blackout.

I heard about this through the news channel at the break room at my job this morning.
Very tragic indeed. ;_;
From takL (He translates Naruto Spoilers very often at NF):
Tokyo did shake but not as hard as north areas of the pacific coast like miyagi, sendai fukushima, from where reportedly more than 1k are dead. Up to now around 5 deaths in tokyo have been confirmed and i dont see mangakas being included.
Edit: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...in-after-quake <<updates about mangakas/seyius (keep in mind that not everyone uses facebook and twitter).

Nagano also just had another earthquake (magnitude 6.7).
I hope everyone is safe and sound. :c
8.9? God help those people. I know Japan is used to its earthquakes, but after some images...oh man.
i think the tsunami, did more harm that the quake itself.
Really bad day.
I really wish that there won't be any aftershocks and that they rebuild their cities with courage.
