Re: 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake in Japan

Damn, having to evacuate a whole city just after having to deal with an earthquake? That doesn't sound like it's gonna be easy. Hopefully they get the plants fix and won't have to do it, or at the very least get some outside aid.

Hundreds have died, many are missing, houses (and even a whole village) are destroyed, and lots of people are grieving right now. Getting our manga and anime fix should be the LAST of our priority.

I'm still reeling from the situation.
I'm glad to hear. First thing I thought of was you and your family, so I'm happy they're all doing good.

Still can't believe this happened. :\ I hope Japan recovers quickly... from what I've seen, they really will have to rebuild so much and clean so much.

It sounds like they already are evacuating. Simply because the situation indeed is that critical. It's not like "there might be some danger, we better prepare for evacuation", because it's already "there IS danger, we have to prepare for worst case to happen every moment".

There now was an explosion at Fukushima 1 and radiation in the vincity increased drastically (to an amount that beeing there for two hours means that one recieves the dosis of radiation one would normally recieve in a year). Evacuation zone was increased from 10km to 20km. Radioactivity within the reactor was 20x higher than normal.

Radioactive Caesium and Iodine were found near the powerplant, which might mean that the fuel elements are already burning.

Re: 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake in Japan

I'm happy to hear your family is okay, Asa I know how worried I was for my Japanese friends and host families, and how relieved I was to hear from them after it. I can only imagine how much greater those emotions are when they are your blood relatives who are involved.

I'm sorry to hear about Takeuchi (and Togashi too), I hope they are okay. But like I already said, and as some other people have also said, manga/anime or whatever forms of entertainment are the last of our worries. Of course mangaka etc are also people, so I hope they are fine, but I'm not going to throw a fit if I don't get my anime/manga fix next week or even for a few weeks to come. Seriously, the people involved in the publications/productions may have lost family members and loved ones, the buildings used in the publications/productions might be destroyed... It is so much more important that they take this time to recover and rebuild than worry about meeting publication/production deadlines, much less to satiate us. Most of us barely even support the industry, if at all!

Also, I heard that 3 workers at the Fukushima nuclear plant got radiation exposure And that there was a pretty big quake at Fukushima as well I do hope the nuclear emergency doesn't get any worse!

    Re: DGM Hang Out Thread

It may happen. I don't know if there has been any news about following manga-releases, but several manga/anime/gaming-events have been canceled due to the events. I think it depends how affected the mangaka or the studios are... But we'll see. Very understandable if it were to happen though I pray for the people over there...

    Post saladesu

You should let people express their compassion and worry about whom and however they want. People don't stop you from writing about your friends or others about their families. I got my authors/idols I wish to see come out well and healthy, but you shouldn't intepret is as a wish for a next chapter, it's just I/our love for them and their works, a thanks for all the feelings we got through the medium, from laugther to excitement to sadness. To tell the truth, I don't know what I would do without OP, a big part of my hobby would just die with that, a part of my daily life would be gone.-_-

Deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone affected by the quake and tsunami. Directly as indirectly. As well as the brave men and women trying to prevent cooling liquid from evaporating and exposing the fuel rods to the air at the reactors in Fukishima.
