In Japan everyone finds out their bloodtype. I think they check theirs either when they're born or when they start elementary school. They can be prepared for it just in case an accident happens.

I live in Canada and the reason why I know my blood type is because I was born a month premature. My brother doesn't know his so here it's not a common thing.
