    C-Music Hangout / The C-Music Show

We have threads for Japanese and Korean music, but none for Chinese music! I guess the Chinese music scene isn't quite as hot as either the Japanese or Korean scenes, but I'm sure there are some among us who appreciate Chinese music~

So who are your favorite artists? What are your favorite songs? This thread is for anything and everything to do with Chinese pop/music

My favorite artists are: 五月天 (Wu Yue Tian/Mayday), 林俊杰 (Lin Jun Jie/JJ Lin), 周杰伦 (Zhou Jie Lun/Jay Chou), F.I.R. and a couple of others

Here are my current favorite songs:
F.I.R. - 月牙弯 (Yue Ya Wan/Moon Crescent Bay)
Jay Chou - 稻香 (Dao Xiang/Fragrance of Rice)

Lately there have been a lot of Chinese artists who also crossover into acting... I guess the biggest name of them (off my cuff anyway) would be Jay Chou, who just appeared in "Green Hornet" not long ago

    Re: The Chinese Pop/Music Thread

Sadly, despite being chinese I'm not that much of a fan of chinese pop, if anything, the only songs that I remember liking the most was the one by JJ Lin and some by Jay Chou.

JJ Lin is awesome of course and one of my fav of his is A Thousand Years Later, Sarang Heyo and Wings, I love mummy too, was my favorite when I was a kid This goooooes way back cos he sang a lot of good ones back then, lol. I was primary 5 then..which is about 12 years old or 11.

For Jay Chou, my favorite is "Gei wo yi shou ge de shi jian"(didn't know if I spelt that right, which translates to "Give me the time of a single song"
and then there is "Tong Hua" by guo liang, sorry but all of them are old songs, I used to be a fan of chinese pop

Anyway, who could forget this awesome chinese duet too?
It was crazy back then, 4 years ago.
    Ah nostalgic memories..

    Re: The Chinese Pop/Music Thread

I know what you mean, Zeltrax... I was a fan as well, also around the same time as you If you're talking about JJ's "Mu Nai Yi" (Mummy) then it must have been when the drama Yin Cha Yang Cuo was on TV, right? I love all the other songs you mentioned from JJ and Guang Liang.

I love Liang Shan Bo and Juliet too!! That's one of my friends' and my karaoke staples

Nowadays while I don't actively search out Chinese songs to listen to, my friends often introduce nice songs to me Anyway, since you used to listen to Chinese songs, here are some great songs from that period you probably are familiar with as well!

    F.I.R. - Fly Away
    JS - Sha Po Lang
    Cyndi - Dang Ni
JJ Lin - Bian Hao 89757
Zhang Dong Liang - Dang Ni Gu Dan Ni Hui Xiang Qi Shui
Liang Jing Ru - Ning Xia

Hehe, sorry for just spamming a list of songs!~

    Re: The Chinese Pop/Music Thread

Thank you for creating this thread, Salad!

    My favorite C-song is:

Yida Huang - Chou Nan Ren

Here’s the translation of the song:

Thanks to yellowyellowyellow for translating the song!

    Spoiler show

I know the lyrics are not the most girl-friendly or the most romantic and sweetest ones, but there is some truth in them since some girls do love that guy that makes them cry and suffer...

The reason why I like this song is not because of the lyrics, but because of the music. The music is so cool.

    Re: The Chinese Pop/Music Thread

Ooh, Huang Yi Da! My (and Zeltrax's) fellow countryman o>

Here are some more songs by him that I really like and think you would too:
Na Nu Hai Dui Wo Shuo (That Girl Said to Me)
Lan Tian (Blue Sky) [skip the first 0:20]
Xian Wei Jing Xia De Ai Qing (Love Under a Microscope)

Anyway, thought I'd share a few songs from my favorite Chinese band as well, Wu Yue Tian (Mayday)
Lian Ai ING (Love-ing) <-- I LOVE THIS SONG A karaoke staple
    Sun Wu Kong (Monkey God)
    Jue Jiang (Obstinacy)
Tu Ran Hao Xiang Ni (Suddenly Missing You So Much)

Oh and since this song also pops up all the time when one searches for Mayday, and is also a great song...
S.H.E. - Wu Yue Tian (A Day in May)

    Re: The Chinese Pop/Music Thread

Because pokeshipping can introduce you to great songs. Here’s a song I found thanks to an Ash x Misty AMV ^_^ :

Genie Zhuo - Liang San Bo Yu Zhu Li Ye ft. Gary Cao

I have no idea what it says but I can definitely feel it must be a very romantic song. <3~

Destinyyyy~~~ I love that song It's another of my karaoke staples Liang Shan Bo = Romeo, Zhu Li Ye = Juliet :3 Literal translation of the title is "Romeo and Juliet" so you're definitely right that it's a romantic song! Here's an english translation.

... Oh and I just realized Zeltrax and I mentioned this song too in a previous post in this thread

I’m so glad you like it as well, Salad! It is a wonderful song. I tried to find the Misty x Ash AMV but it seems youtube already deleted it. If I’m not mistaken, that song is from the OST of a T-drama, but I don’t know the name of that drama.

Thank you so much for that link!

Really? Where? I checked you guys' posts (although I must say I did it briefly) to see if you had already mentioned the song.

And here’s another contribution to this thread :

This song is from one of my favorite T-dramas (Fated to Love you).

半情歌- 元若藍 Ban Qing Ge - Yuan Ruo Lan

I haven’t checked the translation of the song but everytime I listen to it, it gives me a bittersweet feeling…I feel as if it is a love song but a nostalgic one.

Another song that I like is:

    Song: The World I Want
    by:Kingone

The song is from the OST of a T-drama called “Why why Love”. I haven’t watched that T-drama yet, but it was thanks to it that I found out that Kingone was a singer, I thought he was an actor only. I wonder if he is more popular as a singer or if he is more popular as an actor…

    Re: The Chinese Pop/Music Thread

Zeltrax called it "awesome chinese duet" so that's probably why you missed it

Here's another duet~ Angela Zhang Shao Han and Wilber Pan Wei Bo's "Kuai Le Chong Bai". Super catchy song It's old but I still like it since it's so catchy and hard to get out of your head haha

And another - David Tao Zhe and Jolin Tsai's "Jin Tian Ni Yao Jia Gei Wo (Marry me today)", another catchy song.

Old school favorite - Peng You (Friends) by Zhou Hua Jian

This song is always sung at graduation ceremonies and the like, or when gathered around a campfire on the last night of a camp... Love this song! The kind of song that will really make you miss your friends and appreciate their presence in your lives.

The theme song to the Taiwanese movie 那些年我们一起追的女孩 has been stuck in my head for a while It's a pretty awesome song though! The lyrics are written by the director of the movie (and the author of the book the movie is based off) himself

Sadly I don't follow a lot of C-Pop artists, but I do love Singer Sen (歌者森). Her songs are electronic and experimental like Björk.

    塞壬 (Sirens)
    雪女王 (Snow Queen)
    Heartbeats (cover of The Knife)
